| [News] When Doggies Bark "I Do" If you're a 4-pound teacup Yorkshire terrier walking down the aisle for the first time, you don't want to trip over your tiara (or the miniature blue garter on your hind leg). That's why Lulu will be wearing a specially designed, hand-embroidered satin-and-lace gown with 10 layers of tulle and a 20-inch train (flown in from Tennessee) to her "puptial" ceremony Saturday at Doodledings, the Burlingame pet boutique where she first met Ecko during a Friday night "yappy hour" about a year ago. Ecko, a 5-pound terrier, will be sporting a pinstriped vest and checkered bow tie -- but, alas, not tails. A reception honoring the doggie duo will immediately follow the 4 p.m. event, complete with two wedding cakes (one for guests, a carrot and whole wheat version for the couple). The public is invited to fete the furry friends. This heartwarming tale of canine affection left us musing about the luxe gifts and attire that might best befit the newlyweds, their potential guests - - or your own precious pooch. 1 Dachshund statuette, $39.99 each, Target. Adorable and affordable, these sculptured, solid brass reproductions will add charm to any room or garden. And because they weigh about 10 pounds each, they can hold open a door or keep a stack of newspapers down while looking effortlessly chic. 2 Trench coat by Isaac Mizrahi, $14.99, Target. This khaki classic will have your companion looking snappy and sophisticated on evening jaunts and rainy weekends in the country. 3 Pink plush jacket with rhinestone trim and jeweled grosgrain belt, $14. 99, Target. Uptown or downtown, this number just screams pampered princess. (For the truly inspired, there is even a "set" of four matching boots available.) 4 Doggie Spa Pack, $30, www.cainandabelcollection.com. At first, we were panting over the Every Dog has his Day SpaŽ Shampoo, but the Between Baths Spritz and bone-shaped Soap-on-a-Rope left us howling. Comes in either lavender or peppermint fragrance, with a bathing sponge and rubber ducky. 5 Puchi Carrier Bag, $520. Bella & Daisy's, 1750 Union St. This rhinestone-studded carrier is the same design as the one in which Reese Witherspoon toted her darling Bruiser in "Legally Blonde." 6 Crown-embossed bowl in buttercream, $42, George, 2411 California St., San Francisco, and 1844 Fourth St., Berkeley. Regal in size and royally adorable, bound to make any kibble cuter. 7 Excellent dog postcards, $4.50 for a set of six, George. Pet prestige on paper -- a most proper way to invite furry friends for a play date in the park or thank loved ones for pet sitting. 8 Bucina in Orbem pillow, $5,460, www.opuscanis.com. Paws down, the most exquisite doggie bed we have ever seen. Intricately laced golden horn appliques envelop interlocking monogram initials and a woven crown atop dark- blue duchesse satin hand-applied onto red silk velvet. Filled with organic buckwheat hulls and English lavender. 9 Dog Perignon squeeze toy, $14, Bella and Daisy's. Also available: Chewy Vuitton "purses," Sniffany & Co. blue boxes with white bow and Jimmy Chew stilettos, all with squeak boxes inside. 10 Doggie Donuts, $2 each. Bella and Daisy's. Made with carob, peanut butter and other good stuff. No owner who brings a bag of these treats -- all made with ingredients even people could eat -- will be in the doghouse. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...VGCPD4KLU1.DTL |

| Is this a joke? I love how some rich people would rather waste money on a dog wedding than donating to a charity or something.

| Hey! How sweet! I do hope Lulu and Eco practice safe sex on their honeymoon though. Lulu at 4 lb. is to small to get pregnant by 5 lb. Eco. Best wishes to the pair from Bitsy and Willie. |

| I think in some parts both of you are right. you are right because charity is always a good thing to do,plus what type of dog would want to get all dressed up during the middle of the summer when they already have hair on them to make them hot, although maybe she already donated to a charity and it is her choice to do what she wishes with her dog. p.s. i am talking about stewies opinion Last edited by lovinyorkies38; 06-21-2005 at 06:34 PM. |
