I know it burns me also, I cannot believe there was not more of a public outrage, probably because they are Mexican people that live in a trailer park, which should not matter at all. I never leave Lola outside so it would probably never happen to me, but if it did the world would know about it, but these poor people probably don't have the language skills to fight back, just so sad. I have never cared for PETA and now even more so

I live in California the "treehuggin animal loving" capitol of the world. And I am a professional vocalist with over almost 5000 friends on facebook alone not counting twitter, linkedin and other social forms of media. I interact with these people everyday and that gives me a small kind of " Power" to strike back when I am this offended. I know lots of my friends and fans donate to PETA and other animal welfare organizations. I am taking it on myself to make sure they are aware of what an abomination PETA is. And I will do all I can to encourage them to give their dollars to local organizations and rescues whom I KNOW do the right thing when it comes to the animals they come into contact with. For me that is Wonderdog Rescue and Muttville , whom I have fostered for. Muttville in particular focuses on rehoming senior dogs and they are fantastic.

Can I encourage all of you to do the same? Find a LOCAL rescue ( Or one you know is above board with their practices) and not only paste the truth about PETA all over your social media- but give your friends and contacts an option of an organization you KNOW is worthy of your money and support to donate to instead.

It breaks my heart to think that sweet little dog, who was loved-was murdered so senselessly. And it makes me wonder what kind of monster could sit on the porch with the family while planning to bring such heartbreak to them. One can only hope the karma of the universe will bring that woman who walked on that porch, took that dog, then killed it, into up close and personal contact with a virulent strain of Ebola..or something equally nasty. But "hoping" doesn't really help get anything done to remedy the problem. Word of mouth does. If you read this story it is your responsibility to pass it along and to do everything you can to hurt PETA the only place you can- their wallet! ( they certainly don't have a heart to appeal to) If enough if us are spreading the word..PETA will lose it's support and hopefully it's status as a "Shelter/non profit" thereby making way for those organizations who are good and valid to receive those millions of dollars PETA currently receives.

And while we're at it...did someone give that little girl who lost her puppy a new dog? How 'bout one of the ones PETA will kill otherwise? ***Steam coming out of ears right now**

I can't believe those jerks kill 88% of their animals in shelters, and then give an Orwellian explanation of euthanasia being the most humane option a lot of the time. What a load of crap. They just want the cheapest option. My brother's fiance works for a public shelter in San Antonio and has helped get their adoption rate up into the high 80%s, and the shelter has nowhere close to the money PETA does. And sometimes it requires doing the truly humane option: taking an abused dog into their apartment and rehabilitating him/her with lots of love and attention for 3+ months until the pup can be placed into a forever home. PETA has all the money in the world, but rehabilitating abused animals takes both money and time and they can sacrifice neither, since they need to put all of their efforts into attention whoring.

Cry Unbelieveable

Absolutely outragous! If the dog was on his own property, not showing any signs of abuse or distress, even if they thought there was something wrong, got there and the dog was fine, they should have just left or spoke to the owners, and then known that everyting is fine, the dog is just outside. They can't just come and take your dog for NO reason whatsoever, and then do the absolute worst thing ever, put the dog to sleep. I feel so sorry for the owners and the poor doggie. What a tragic situation, seems you can't be safe even at home. There should be severe consequences for the people who did this, what were they thinking. I must say, when I take my girls out in the backyard I never leave then unattended, nor do I ever tie them up outside and then go into a store, I am scared someone might take them, I have heard of people stealing dogs like that. I don't know what I would do if this happened to my girls, well my husband would probably go after them. Sad, sad, sad situation.

Someone would have a very bad day if they even thought about taking one of my pets, let alone killing one of my pets. They wouldn't do it again. And we will just leave it at that.

Wilbur Cerate told WAVY this surveillance footage shows two workers taking his Chihuahua Maya from the family's front porch. (There was a video showing a truck backing up to the porch, a PETA worker jumped out, grabbed the dog from the porch, put it in the back of their "Rescue" van, and drove off.)

He told the station, "I understand if they pick up my dog if it was in a tree or another place, but this is in my house."

This happened in October and he says the workers came back a few days later with a fruit basket to tell him his dog had been euthanized and apologize.
The workers were charged with grand larceny but those were later dropped because the video did not show criminal intent.
On average, PETA euthanizes 2,000 dogs and cats each year at it's animal shelter in Virginia. The group has actively promoted a video explaining the organization's reasons for euthanizing animals.
"In 2013, we euthanized 1,805 ferrell, sick, suffering, dying, aggressive and otherwise unadoptable animals."

But Cerate says his dog wasn't in any position to be put down. PETA has refused to release any statement about the incident."

Gosh....no criminal intent shown by these workers? Guess they would have had to show a sign saying they were there to steal the dog so they could murder it.....

All y'all that let your little dogs outside unsupervised, had better be super vigilant....watch out for predators from the sky, from the woods, thieves roaming the neighborhood.....and I guess now PETA too, as they now take dogs right from porches and yards!

I train service dogs for the differently abled. Therefore I am a member of groups that discuss training, equipment, etc. One individual was at a mall with her service dog on a down, stay when a "person" from peta tried to lure the dog away from her human with dog biscuits. This owner was in a wheelchair and not blind. She told her dog to stay, leave it and sleep. Thankfully the dog had been properly trained to all three commands. peta IS NOT about rescue they are about thieves. I would LOVE to see these "people" spend time in jail for theft and destruction of private property.

Secret Really ANGRY about this? You can help this family WIN

The family may not win in court but will win in helping to get this kind of thing stopped and hopefully some VA laws changed to prevent this from happening in the future.

WHERE in VA -- Start a letter writing/call making campaign for the family. Call the governor's office send letters to the governor, the city officials, police chief, sheriff, every state congress person, etc., etc., etc!!! Since these people need help WE need to help become their voice.

PLEASE give more information. Thanks.

This has worked in other states and works wonderfully through Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP.org) to prevent cop killers from getting parole -- which I am also a member of. I write every board to prevent parole for every one of them. I'm a Survivor and do not want them back on the streets ever!!!

Was said best on Dragnet by Sgt. Friday
If someone will shoot a well-trained, armed police officer, what makes you think that person would hesitate in the murder of an unarmed civilian.

Cry Breaks my heart reading this...

It is really alarming how big/national orgs such as PETA are the ones who seems to abuse our beloved bestfriends indirectly. Small shelters are way better when it comes to taking care of pets without home. Euthanizing is not the right way to do it. Of course, I understand the circumstances and their reasons behind it, but it's just not acceptable. There's always a solution for every problems. Killing them instead of taking the time to find them home is just so wrong in different levels.

My babies are NEVER outside my home without me. If I have to leave them at home, I lock them in the master bath and laundry room which are attached. With a water, food, blanket and toys.

Would seem Peta lost the legal battle on this one.

As I understand an August 2017 article in The Telegraph, Peta was fined $500 for its handling of Maya. PETA separately settled the civil action for $51,000--$49,000 paid to the family and $2,000 to SPCA "to honour Maya."

Is there an Anti-PETA or watch dog group that needs funding to make Peta’ s behavior more accounts and preventable?

I agree whole heartedly!!!!

Just in case there is anyone or any entity that can help there is someone or something, I should say, that is attempting to kill puppies in Fort Smith, AR. So far it has cut the head off of one, shot one, beat one and hung it from a fence, beat one to death, and the latest is pouring acid on a batch of puppies. My opinion is anything that harms an animal should be set on fire but I am not in charge. If any organization or anyone can help it would be WONDERFUL!!!! Unfortunately the laws against animal abuse here are not strict enough. Like I said, if it were up to me whatever air breathing creature that is doing this deserves to be set on fire.
