| Actress Tricia O’Kelley Says Alleged Dognapper Of Deaf Yorkie Wanted $1K LOS FELIZ (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles police Friday continued to search for a man suspected in the dognapping of a 5-pound deaf Yorkie. The missing pooch named Walter was taken from Tricia O’Kelley’s Los Feliz home. The accomplished Hollywood actress noticed Walter missing from the family’s yard on Thursday and then received a call from a blocked number. “I totally knew the second I heard the guy’s voice that he was not a good guy,” she said. O’Kelley said that’s when things went from bad to worse. “It was like a movie. ‘I want $1,000 and I want you to post flyers that say Reward: $1,000,’” she said. The family made flyers and contacted police who planned to send a plainclothes officer with them to a Hollywood Chevron to make the exchange when the suspect called and said he saw police. “My husband said, ‘What are you talking about? I’m still posting the flyers that you told me to post.’ And that’s when he said, ‘You’re lying to me and I’m [expletive] keeping your dog’,” she said. It turned out the suspect called from a 7-Eleven payphone in North Hollywood but likely had it scouted and the police car … a bad coincidence, CBS2′s Serene Branson reports. O’Kelley feels this isn’t the first time they’ve done this but Walter is not puppy. He’s an older dog with health issues. “I’ve had him since he was two months old and he could fit into my hand. I’ve had him longer than my children. Longer than my husband,” she said. Walter is microchipped. The family is just asking that he be turned into a shelter or veterinary office. No questions asked. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact LAPD Hollywood detectives. Actress Tricia O?Kelley Says Alleged Dognapper Of Deaf Yorkie Wanted $1K CBS Los Angeles |

| My heart is breaking for this poor little guy. I pray they don't hurt him!! This is a prime example why we keep stressing "do not let the dog out unattended"!!! Never, ever let them outside without supervision, not even for 30 seconds. If someone really wants your dog, they are going to scam your yard for the perfect opportunity.

| And who suffers for the stupid mistake of the owner??? Of course, the poor, innocent little deaf dog......I just do not understand how anyone that has one of these dogs, has not at the very least, figured out that they are expensive, and can be resold for a substantial amount of money, making them a PRIME target for thieves! DUH!!!! Put your dog out in the yard and leave it unattended....but then dont be broken hearted when it is carried off by a prdeitor or a thief.....to late to be broken hearted then.....just think about what you have just put that poor little dog into......NOW, be broken hearted. |

| Prayerfully, this lady has learned a lesson from her mistake. She hopefully learned SHE is responsible for the safety of that little dog.....Walter can not defend himself, he must have someone that is bigger, stronger, and more intelligent than he is....hopefully, his mistress is that person. She is very lucky that the pup was not hurt or killed..... |

| Great news that Walter was returned. I am sure Tricia O'Kelley has learned a very valuable and life altering lesson. Thankfully, she learned it without the horrid outcome that could've happened. Little side note - that update article starts off by calling Walter a "mini Yorkie" and then later says he is 5 lbs. He's just a Yorkie, people. smh lol

The other point worth pondering is although dog nappers are scum, at least they apparently had human feelings, and did not kill the little guy after they figured out there would be no pay-off. Last edited by shawnzeppi; 05-19-2013 at 02:38 PM. | |

| How wonderful he's back home. I hope his mom realizes just how lucky that baby is to still be alive. Why does it take something like this or worse before they learn!!!!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | It is great that little one is back home where he belongs. I wonder if she paid the $1000 ransom. If so it was an expensive lesson for her not to leave her Yorkie out in the yard un-attended. Apparently in TO there are dog fighting rings! And they steal both wee ones, and large dogs for the rings. You can imagine what the wee ones are for! They are called "bait dogs", used to teach another breed much larger one to fight! I wish I knew how to track these abominations down, and get the police on their tail. Awfull Awfull folks that would do this to our beautiful and precious dogs!

| Sadly, had this happen to someone we know. I can't imagine how I would feel. All someone has to do is come and open your gate when you let your baby out to pee. |
