Absolutely disgusting! |
I posted the same report in General. Eyeopening, shocking, disgusting are all words that come to mind while reading the report. :thumbdown |
the first one listed had a link to their contact info. i dont usually write to people, but i just had to send the below email. unfortunately there isnt much point to get through to people like this... "Please wake up your empathy and take a look at the suffering all around you. Why do these dogs deserve to suffer so much? What gives you (an obviously substandard "human") the right to torture these defenseless animals? What you do is beyond cowardly and sad... "It takes nothing from a human to be kind to an animal"...." |

Thanks for posting this! Don't think I can look again right now, but I hope all that have never seen the videos of Puppymill abuse, look and learn. I had heard the term puppymill before I came to Yorkietalk. Thought -- how cruel that dogs are kept caged and have to have a lot of litters. That is about all I knew. The REAL cruelty was beyond my comprehension. If I had not seen the videos, I would never have understood just how low human beings would sink in the mistreatment of innocent animals. It really opened my eyes to the abuse that is rampant. Made me realize that not only would I never buy a pet store dog, but I would not give one cent to a pet store that sells dogs and/or cats. Not for food, toys, or any supplies. It also made me realize I needed to help when I could and contribute to rescue efforts. I have written a lot of letters and emails in support of stronger legislation to punish these abusers and help end further abuse. We all need to help in any way we can and boycotting the puppymills and anyone who does business with them is a good first step. |
Please make sure you go to this thread, if you haven't already: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...mill-bill.html Puppy mill dogs are terribly neglected. I did dachsie rescue for several years, dachsies that were seized from puppy mills. I now have Reno that I am fostering until a forever home is found for him. He is a Yorkie seized with lots of others at a Florida puppy mill early September. I just couldn't watch the slide show. Maybe I will have the stomach to watch it later. |
So sad... :( Thank you for the links, I have used the material in my presentation, which i will be giving today, for one of my classes. I'm covering why you shouldn't buy puppies from pet stores (as they are often supplied by mills) and what some alternatives to buy are (shelters are the best option on my list). I utilized many of the images in the article... I hope they make an impact. |
Oh My God, How Terrible!! I look at my babies, and think about those poor dogs, and just want to cry, and all they want to be is loved. My heart breaks. |

The first three puppy mills on the list are: • S & S Family Puppies, owned by Brandi Cheney and Diana Stephenson, in Milan, Mo. This USDA-licensed facility has been the subject of more than 500 pages of USDA enforcement records detailing filthy conditions, sick or dying dogs who had not been treated by a veterinarian, dogs in frigid temperatures with frozen water bowls and without adequate shelter from the elements, dogs so severely matted that when the mats were removed their skin was raw and oozing, and dogs with open, bloody wounds who had not been treated by a vet. • Beverly Fields, B & B Kennel, in Galt, Mo. Fields is both USDA and state licensed despite a history of problems with ramshackle housing, dogs found in temperatures as low as 9 degrees with inadequate protection from the weather, a dog smeared with feces, and a dog with “red, inflamed and oozing” skin on her feet from standing on wire flooring. Photographs taken by HSUS investigators show dogs at this facility in rusty, crooked wire cages similar to chicken coops. Fields contributed to MoFed PAC, a recently-disbanded group that actively opposed Proposition B in Missouri. • Shannon Plymell, Windsong Kennel, in Pattonsburg, Mo. Windsong Kennel has retained its federal and state licenses in 2010 despite dozens of Animal Welfare Act violations, including dogs found in frigid temperatures with inadequate protection from the cold, underweight dogs, and dogs with “raw and inflamed skin,” hair loss or eye discharge who were not treated by a vet. A USDA inspector last year noted stacked cages that allowed feces and urine from the top tier of cages to rain down on the animals below. Photographs taken by HSUS investigators show dogs at this facility in ramshackle wire cages propped up by PVC piping. At puppy mills in Missouri, dogs are crammed into small and filthy cages, denied veterinary care, exposed to extremes of heat and cold, and given no exercise or human affection. These puppy mills are cruel and the way these dogs are treated is wrong. Prop B would stop puppy mill abuses by establishing common-sense standards for the care of dogs. |
Perhaps even more disturbing...those kennels were found in violation by USDA...meaning they were inspected and there are oh so many...which are not. :( |
I will never again buy so much as one dog treat from a store that sells puppies. |
