| wow this is the 2nd incident in bryan,tx ok so i live in bryan/college station area. my friend works at a hosptial and they had a child come in that had been biten by a friends dog. the animal control visted the dog and they agreed that the animal control would check on the dog daily instead of quatineing the dog. comes to find out the dog showed signs of rabies and tested postive for it. so it really worries me that 2 cases of a dosmestic dog having rabies in the same area. I am assuming it is not the same dog bc it did not say someone got bit....i guess my pups wont be going to dog park anytime soon....mine are vaccinated but still. |

| ok so i live in bryan college station,tx ok so this is the 2nd report of a domestic dog testing postive for rabies. my friend works at the hospital. and last week and child hade came to er and goten bit by friends dog. the animal control visited the owners and they agreed to keep the dog confined in their yard and the animal contol would come check the dog daily for signs of rabies. i believe on the 2 maybe 3rd day the dog was positive for rabies. so this is the worring me with 2 different dosmetic dogs that are postive for rabies in the same area. i am assuming it is a differnet dog since in this report no one got bit. my dogs wont be going to dog park for a while.....they are vacinated but to be on the safe side...... |

There are two towns in TX with the same name, Bryan! The one the original post is about is in Wise County. The one you are referring to honestly does not sound right. I cannot see Animal Control doing daily visits...and, the only way I think they can test an animal is to euthanize it and do tests on the brain. Also, if there was a rabid dog in the Bryan in Brazos County, it would be on the news. Rabies is reportable. I cannot find any reports of a case there.

They HAVE to report it....it is the law! There is NO WAY they would hide something that dangerous. Not saying she made it up....it just does not add up! If the dog did indeed have rabies, there would be a huge alert...I searched and found nothing.

It amazes me that people take animals from people on the side of the road...whether free OR paid for. You have NO idea what you are getting! Yes, it is very creepy!

| yeah i dont know then maybe it is the same dog they did not release that someone got bit. maybe bc its a child and the child goes to school, or maybe did not want ppl to panic that someone in a small town was infected. i have not clue. i think you though it was wise county cause are news comes from waco,killeen-which is wise county. the problem we have here is all the college kids(a and m) get dogs and dont ever get them vaccinated and we have over population bc the college kids dont relize the work a dog is and just give them up to shelter. it does not help we have one of those sad puppy stores at our mall and college kids get them and think they are cute...;( its sad |

| bottom line: Rabies is a Public Health Emergency .. and they HAVE to report it...because a person can contract rabies without being bitten. They would have an all out alert to the public to try and find out if the dog that bit the child had been around anyone else!! This is not something they HIDE. Never, ever!!!
