[News] New Regulations for Spot Flea & Tick Medication |
Thanks for posting this. I had thought people were overreacting about the dangers of these pest treatments, but apparently not! I'm glad Thor gets fleas very rarely. I've only had to give him Frontline once (knock on wood). |
I feel I have no choice since I live in Florida where fleas and ticks are very common, especially now with the weather getting warmer. I think the application directions need to be more precise. Its the same dose for my 6 lb as it is for my 12 lb dog. |
This is awesome! So glad to hear they are going to be more strict. Last year Levi got very sick from a flea preventative and he is bigger than Tink. The vet said he had an allergic reaction to something in the medicine that Tink wasn't allergic to. So now my vet does there flea and tick preventative. (We live in the woods kinda) |
I don't think this helps one bit!! The ingredients are still exactly the same!!!! Those chemical's can and do kill pets. They go into the blood stream. You definately DO have a choice NOT to use things like this, but go the holistic route which is safer and more effective! Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia - Ticks, fleas, bees, flies, snakes and other gremlins! And how to deal with them! |
Does anyone make these remedies and sell them? |
My solution to spot flea treatments! For years I have been applying beneficial nematodes to my lawn and the only time I get fleas is when I have procrastinated getting the nematodes out. Now I am religious about it twice a year. I have spread the word in our neighborhood and now have several close neighbors doing it as well. Beneficial nematodes are cheaper than flea treatments, organic and harmless to all but the larvae of fleas, ants, chinchbugs, etc. They penetrate and feed on these larvae preventing them from hatching. You may still get a stray flea that dropped off a passing animal but again, we have a lot of dog-walking in our neighborhood and I don't even get a stray flea. The best part is no pesticide on our furbabies! |
