| This is a happy ending but I think the way they handled it gave robbers/thieves more incentive to kidnap dogs that appear to belong to people that invest a lot in them. We frufru up our dogs in dresses and pretty things and I believe now that these people gave the thief $10,000 no questions asked made it very easy money. That's what they look for. Easy money. Keep your babies close. |

| I'm happy she was able to get her dog back. Part of me thinks there should have been a sting operation going on. The cops should have taken that guy into custody and found out what he knew. This just opened a can of worms for all of us dog lovers. If that happens to me that guy better watch out, I'm calling the cops right after I open a can of you know what on him.

Absolutely in that order....kick backside first! I totally agree. I had read that thing waiting to hear that they had turned him in and was disappointed; but glad they got him back!

| I think it was a little ill-responsible of the owners to not co operate with the police. I'm glad they got their baby back, but it just makes our pups look more like a free wallet. Also NEVER leave your pups in the car unattended! |

Yeah I agree with this, I think it just makes it look like it's pretty easy and rewarding to "petnap." I'm glad they got their dog back, but I think someone else is going to be missing their dog, not only taken from this thief, but other greedy scum bags who will think about the easy money. I hope they work with the police on making a drawing or something to help catch this scumbag; then it would be a great story. If they don't work with the police, you always wonder if they were in on it, as donations came from others as well.

| I see so many things wrong with this story it makes me crazy...all of them point at the owners of this poor dog! First, what responsible pet owner leaves their pet in their car (albeit with the A/C on) while they dine at a restaurant? An Escalade at that...sounds suspicious to me. Next, they offer a $10K reward for the safe return and NOT have Law Enforcement involved in the exchange with the possible suspect??? Lastly, they make the exchange (unconfirmed by admission) and they just walk away with their dog less the $10K??? I don't believe that for a minute...

Who knows...might not be true...or might be. The lesson learned is that the very first thing to do if you lose a pup is post signs everywhere!!! I also believe you post a reward. Whether it sends a message or not is not the point..you want your pup back! People will steal them and sell them to someone....so why not offer a reward that will be more than they will get by selling him/her??? Think about that! As for the auto running. I used to travel a lot and have a remote start on my SUV. I believe it was MS that did not allow pets in the rest area buildings so I would lock my truck, set the alarm, start it with the remote and run in quickly. Now going to dinner and leaving a pup in your car is ridiculous...I agree. The main reason I posted this story was because of the signs...that is an excellent message. Most people start running around aimlessly looking for a pup that is on the run. Run and post signs at the same time so that if he/she is seen someone might see the sign and call!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Too bad the news won't report it unless there's a big reward involved, I think lost dogs are more interesting than most the stuff they report.
