| I am not turning this thread into anything, I stick by what I said as well, she must be feeling so very sad right now and woulda, coulda shoulda isnt going to bring her baby back. So yes it could have been prevented but it wasnt, and Im sure this mother will do things differently now, its sad that it cost her babys life for her to be more cautious. Im sure this thread was started so that members can keep this family in prayer, not talk about how unfit the mother is and how it is her fault was all Im saying.

| OMG! How horrible! I'm sure that mother will never forgive herself! I think the only thing to say is that our thoughts and prayers are with that family. This tragedy happened. Hopefully it will just make others know not to leave small children unattended with any pet. Thank you for posting this story.

I agree 100%. My heart goes out to the family of this precious little one that is now sitting in the lap of our Dear Lord. I just can't imagine explaining this incident to her twin in years to come.

Lots of tragic/terrible things happen every day that could have been prevented. I hope this doesn't sound callous, but I was sitting here thinking...obviously, if someone heard this story and then had a baby, they would never leave the baby alone with a pet....so maybe in the little class they give now at the hospital to all parents before they go home with their new baby, they should include a couple of ways to avoid tragedies. I don't know for sure, but I'd bet that they make sure and say "don't EVER fall asleep with your baby in bed with you, or you could accidentally roll over and suffocate the baby while you're sleeping!"....maybe they should include other preventable tid bits, like "don't EVER leave your baby alone with pets or even other children!" Just a thought.....

Having said that I agree that the mother was careless and should never have had the babies on the bed like that. I also agree that the dog probably was "playing" with the new toy and probably wasn't properly prepared for the twins. THe whole thing is just very sad and I pray that the family will be able to deal with their guilt and grief. My mother was a twin and her sister died very early. Mom always said that she felt the loss even though she has no memory of her twin. I feel so bad for the surviving baby.

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | Good point....unless anyone read anything else about it (??), I'm assuming that people read "newborn" and "4 year old dog", and somehow it trickled down into "4 week old"??? Just a guess....

| The twins were born on 12/26 which would make them 4 weeks old this Friday. |
