| Where in Mount Vernon? I want to donate too! I made a cash donation yesterday at the pet store, but would like to do more. I definatly have lots of towels that I could give, we want to adopt a dog. Even though we have three, we have enough love for one more! Do you know who I contact to adopt one of the dogs or pups when they are ready? Also, are you in the area because I could add to your donations? |

| KathiW, Honestly, I am ready to cry. I have made so much effort to help for last week, but with no luck. I left so many messages to SPOT, and sent e-mails, they promised to contacted me, and never did, so today, I went to Mt Vernon. I wanted to catch SPOT team at fairground, but when I came there, was told that all dogs were moved to different places YESTERDAY. So I went little bit more north and dropped some donation at Vet clinic. Just now I was reading at official SPOT site that they do not need any volunteers. I spend so much my time online by educating people about this subject for last four years (at other forums), and when it really happened (raid, I mean), I even cannot do anything. It just hurts my feeling. Especially, this is kennel of those people I have kept eyes for last four years!!!! Just feel very sad....my mood is horrible... This is the link for you: all updates are there and also what they need. PuppyJustice.com :: Saying “NO!” to Puppy Mills in Washington State » About Us |

| Update is not good. Look what SPOT wrote me: Due to the legal involvement, we won't be able to place dogs out into individual foster homes for some time - ultimately, it could take 4+ months. Or the dogs could be returned to the owners before they talked about couple weeks. Oh, I believe those monsters have really powerful lawyer |

| COPY: I've written the following letter below which you are welcome to copy and paste into your own if you like, or you can write your own too. I've also included the contacts of who to send the letters to. I think it's very important they know how the public feels about this and that if enough people say something we will see justice done and prevent the suffering of many more. I know many people want to stop this but don’t know how so I’ve made it easy for you by looking up the contacts and sharing my letter. So if you don’t have time all you have to do is copy and paste. I know we all need to vent on here and share the information but it doesn’t really help stop this from happening. So if you really want to make a difference here is how. Letter in attention to: ______________________ Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office 3000 Rockefeller, M/S 504, Everett, WA 98201 E-mail: prosecuting.attorney@co.snohomish.wa.us ______________________ And ______________________ GOVERNOR CHRISTINE GREGOIRE Office of the Governor PO Box 40002 Olympia, WA 98504-0002 Phone: (360) 902-4111 Fax: (360) 753-4110 Website: Governor Chris Gregoire's official state website Then to email click on contact the governor and send email via webform or this direct link should take you to her email webform: Contact Governor Gregoire _____________________________ And ___________________________ LT. GOVERNOR BRAD OWEN Office of Lieutenant Governor Owen 220 Legislative Building PO Box 40400 Olympia WA 98504-0400 Phone: (360) 786-7700 Website: Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen - Washington State Email: ltgov@leg.wa.gov ________________________________ Copy of letter: _______________________________ I am writing concerning the recent Puppy Mill report, of the nearly 600 animals seized in Skagit and Snohomish counties since Jan. 16th. And in concern for any other and all Puppy Mill cases such as this. I am outraged and shocked that no arrests have been made yet and how this could have been allowed to continue for as long as it has. This family has been engaging in this animal cruelty for nearly a decade. Numerous complaints have been made on them, long before these dogs were seized yet nothing happened, and still no arrests. This family has made millions of dollars skipping on the income tax they owe both the state and the federal government while torturing these innocent animals. We the tax payers have had our tax dollars used to kill healthy, adoptable pets, due to over breeding, unwanted litters and not enough homes while people such as this contribute to the problem. Besides tax evasion, their puppy mills have practiced inhumane treatment of their animals. As documented, these animals lived in deplorable conditions, with insufficient food, water and some covered in urine and feces. Medications and used syringes used to treat sick animals found scattered in front of pens and in a refrigerator. Dogs, crawling with fleas. Some with sores all over their bodies. And others that had tumors that will require surgical removal.. Dogs were crammed into crates and small pens that were overflowing with waste. A black Labrador retriever was crammed into a crate with a full-grown Doberman pinscher. The dogs couldn't stand up! Not to mention they found multiple dead dogs and puppies. Some thrown in bins like garbage, some found in a freezer. I'm sure you will agree, these people need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. As you may have heard this story has even made the news in New York. Our state should be embarrassed and ashamed this has been allowed to continue so long. And we need to set an example to others who engage in such unspeakable acts that they will not go unpunished or get away with it anymore. Crimes punishable by law: Animal Cruelty, (with multiple counts per animal multiplied by the near 600 rescued, that's over 600 counts) Violation of health codes Tax fraud and tax evasion Homes repossessed that were bought by cheating on their taxes They should serve some serious prison time. They should also be seriously fined, and that money should go to help in the medical care and shelter/feeding of the animals that were rescued. Lastly they should never be allowed to breed or own anymore animals again. As this is clearly a family business of illegal activities with the entire family involved, each one should be punished to ensure another doesn't take over and continue these despicable acts. I think the community would love to hear you address the public on this issue as well, to reassure us that something is going to be done and that it will not be tolerated. I know you will take the appropriate action to make sure that justice is served. Thank you Sincerely, xxxx |

| They have to wait untill all of the legal part of this is done before they can begin to adopt these dogs out to a permanent home. And because 80% of the dogs are reported to be pregnant that means that it will be at least four months before many of them will be able to be placed. puppies should be with the mom for 12 weeks for toy breeds. Once they have the legal rights to these dogs. they will start out by placing them in foster homes and rehabilitating the ones that need it then as the puppies get old enough they too will find homes. We have to remember that every home needs to be carefully screened and that too will take time. It will take more than just volenteers to take care of these dogs. They will need food and crates. And hopefully they will get to have treats and toys a blanket to lay on and everything else a dog deserves. Belive me I would love to go down there and help but I also feel like if they have it under control then I will do other things to help like filling out a form to foster and donate. Many of the people that are helping and are hands on at this point are vets and vet techs, groomers, people that have been rescuing for years and have lots of hands on expierence this is great for the dogs. It is wonderful that so many people have volenteered their time and expertese. I am praying that the people who did this will be procecuted and will never again have the privellage of owning and breeding these wonderful babies.

| I emailed SPOT, got Response I emailed s.p.o.t. yesterday and filled out a online adoption application. I got a email response back thanking me for the application and then a second email that told me that the dogs wont be available for adoption for several months. I assumed that, since I requested a puppy and most of the 1500 puppies expected are not born yet and will have to stay there until a certain age. I will wait until the then. They did also say that the dogs could be returned to the owner, they have to say that as no one can predict (o.j. simpson-anything can happen)but I don't think that will be the case as the media is all over this and I will make t-shirts and stand outside the court room with a sign if I have to in getting the public involved. |

| This is so sad Quote:
I don't get how they were able to do this to these poor helpless animals but obviously they didn't care except for the money. I think it's horrible that it took so long to get it shut down since from the reports people in the neighborhood had been making complaints for a loooonggg time.

| FYI - this is for WA state Subject: Puppy Mill Bill submitted by HSUS for 2009 Legislative Session Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Dan Paul, Washington State Director for The Humane Society of the United States . He was on his way home from Olympia after getting the final signatures and filing Puppy Mill Bill legislation for our state. It will limit breeders to 25 dogs and it includes "standards of care" language also regarding exercise requirements, food & water, etc. Please don’t forget to sign up and RSVP for the event on February 12th, 2009 in Olympia . Legislators need to hear your feelings and comments on animal abuse and especially on puppy mills. You can RSVP for the event by clicking here: https://community.hsus.org/humane/ev...dwKVTs1scvwxEV PuppyJustice.com :: Saying “NO!” to Puppy Mills in Washington State ************************************************** ************************************************** *************** ************************************* http://www.skagithumane.com/localmills07.htm Unfortunately the commercial breeding kennel regulations in Skagit County are in need of updating and provide no relief for these horrible situations. ************************************************** ************************************************** *************** ************************************************** ************* http://www.puppyjustice.com">Renee Roske PuppyJustice.com :: Saying “NO!” to Puppy Mills in Washington State » Come to Olympia and talk to your representatives about making our state laws better for pets! This post I copied from craigslist and don't know if it is a true or false. Some people decided it RR wrote.... Whoever let out that 'over 500 dogs seized' are pregnant, that's bogus. I'm one of the volunteers, and I can first hand say that at LEAST 40% of all dogs taken are males, and at LEAST 30% are too young, or incapable of breeding, and another percentage are moms with babies at their side, the number was hidiously blown out of proportion, it's more like at MOST 20 DOGS not PERCENT are expecting. And... by the way, all of you - you should see those houses. Go to Seattle craigslist and this info re-posted all the time. The pic of Gold Bar house is not shown, so add one more house to posted photos.... |

| Just a suggestion...... Quote:
My baby Rocky actually potty trained himself to go to this paper wherever I put it in my house. This paper goes with us when we visit anyone. It is free.....no pads to buy. So this is my suggestion to anyone who wants to help that does not have cash to donate to rescue centers for animals.

| I got to visit some of the dogs! I went to drop off another load of things that I collected, bought, or took from my family And after I brought in these things one of the people at the dest asked if I would like to see some of the dogs that they had from the raid. Ofcorse I did! There were alot of Chihuahuas, some corgi mixes, yorkies, boxer puppies, all different breeds. Most of the long haired dogs were shaved all the way down and you could see where they had some sores because they had been neglected for so long. Good news is that most of them were happy to see people, there was one yorkie girl that had a toy and you could tell she wanted to use it but wasnt quite sure what to do she would pick it up and act like she wanted to play but then put it back down again and come up to the glass. It broke my heart to see them, but it also gave me hope, most of these dogs even the adults are young enough that they will make a nice recovery with time and love. Some were still not sure if they wanted to be near people or not, but they are already having improvements. The boys for some reason seemed more apprehensive than the girls. I am keeping these dogs in my prayers and hoping that they will win their case and be able to have new loving homes in the not to distant future.
