| [News] Another Dog (yorkie-mix) from Petland Dies of Parvo in Iowa This little Shorkie died of Parvo & Petland's check to reimburse the family bounces. Watch the story here. Pop Up Video This is not the first story about this Petland. This tv station has been following Petland's mess for almost a year. Last March they were selling sick dogs that died. Here is a link to all their stories on Petland WHO TV - Des Moines: Search I have asked that the video of the investigation into their ties to the puppymill be put back up - I was told a week ago by the tv station that the video would be back up - but it's still not there. It was a great series - you can read some of the facts on their site

Senior Yorkie Talker | this makes me really mad I was taught from a very young age never to buy puppies from any pet store (unless its like the SPCA adoptions at the store) because most of the time they do come from puppy mills. Now it seems like common sense but some people just dont catch on. If no one buys puppies from these places then maybe they would go out of business and according to that video, they didnt have much money any how! This is just so sad, Im glad there is no petland where i live, but they should be put out of business by all means

| This made me so angry that these people are still in business. Everyone knows that they get their pups from Puppy Mills. Here is another nice family torn apart by the untimely death of their puppy!! 24 hours and then to add insult to injury the check bounces!! Lady get a lawyer and shut these bas*ards down permanently!! R.I.P. Snickers...

Some people really and truly don't know any better...thats why it is up to people like us to spread the word as much as we can. I still cant understand why Pet land is still in business....as many puppies as they sell at such prices, they should have enough money to refund someone back their money less then $2000. If they can't afford that...you know they are not spending money on vet care and supplies for these animals. But in reality they do have the money...its just going in to the pockets of the owners. And since little snickers have prov...you know more puppies will have the same. | |

| It is so hard for me to understand how anyone in Central Iowa can be still walking in the doors of this place. This one news station has done at least 7 stories in the last 10 mths on this place. Some people never watch the news I guess, or always a different station. I know at least one other station has covered the protests at Petland. I do not live in the city where this Petland is, but I am thinking of contacting the city officials about shutting this place down. Also, I am thinking about starting a blog about the dangers of these places. But it has to be a blog with high traffic. I would encourage others to start blogging about puppy mills & pet stores, like Petland, who sell these puppies. Anyone who lives in the vicinity of a newspaper owned by Gannett (the largest newspaper company in the US, owner of USA TODAY & several overseas papers) can go to the website of one of these papers & set up a blog. I'm sure other newspapers around the country do this too. They want people out their blogging, as it drives traffic to their site & since print is dying, they love the blogs - and you don't have to be a reporter. The other thing I want to say about this Petland -- They are ACCEPTING unwanted dogs & cats - yep that's right just drop your pet off & they will sell it to someone else! I checked it out!! Why would you expo your pet to parvo & disease??!! Here's the thread I posted about it earlier this mth http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...nted-pets.html

| I'm so sick of hearing all these devastating stories of these poor puppies dying from petland. Something needs to be done. You can tell they're obviously lying about getting those puppies from puppy mills. This's so upsetting. |

You're right, they should be put out of business! Not ALL people were taught this from a very young age. Honestly, until I joined Yorkie Talk, I don't know that I ever gave pet stores a second thought. I've never bought a dog from one, but if I had, had the money and saw a dog I wanted in one, I might have. It would not have been to support a puppymill, it would have been out of ignorance. I hope Petland goes DOWN

| Everyone PLEASE read! Not only yorkies but all other small breeds are being sold at PETLANDS around the U.S. without the proper health care required for these animals to live long, healthy lives. I'm sure we all have stepped into a PETLAND and our hearts melted when we see these cute little pups and most of us cringe when we seen the conditions these innocent animals are living in! PLEASE, everyone inform your family and friends what PETLANDS are doing to these animals, where they get the pups from (PUPPY MILLS), exactly what a puppy mill is, and what they can do to help. A. DO NOT PURCHASE A PET FROM A PETLAND OR A PET STORE THAT TREATS ANAIMALS LIKE THIS. -If the pet store has demand for the animals they will keep getting the supply. It is so heart breaking to read all these stories about the people who lost their pup because of some irresponsible action PETLAND took or because of the lack of health care the pup received when it was necessary. TOGETHER we can STOP Petland!!!! |

| It makes me SO angry when I read things like this! Petland is very lucky they don't have a store in San Diego because I would be all over them! Petlands are all over the world! China, Japan, Mexico ect...What is this? Sick, that's what it is! I feel bad for the people who are educated on puppy mills! Someone at the park yesterday asked me what a puppy mill was? I almost fell out of my chair! I then realized not everyone knows! |
