| Question about green tripe, etc. I have had Kalina on raw now for a little while. Long enough for her to go thru two bags of Primal Raw and is starting her third. She loves the Primal Lamb and so far that's all I have given her. I just got some dehydrated green tripe. I think she will do ANYTHING for a piece of that. I have a few questions about the tripe and the Primal. 1. Is dehydrated tripe ok or should I get the canned? I'm not sure I have ever seen raw tripe anywhere. Where would I get that? 2. What are the benefits of feeding tripe? 3. How much should I feed her? She is 5#. 4. Why is it good to give variety in protein other than for reasons of boredom? I am afraid to give her chicken or chicken bones, even though I know they are soft. But she is teething and her teeth are not all in yet. She loves the lamb and is happy with it, so I kind of hate buying stuff that will go to waste. Oh, and I do feed her fresh meat from time to time, not just the Primal, and I give her meaty bones on occasion. She has never finished a meaty bone completely. She looks fantastic and has a ton of energy.

| The best is fresh tripe, i'm afraid I don't know where you could get it where you are. Here I have a good supplier for raw feeders who I order it from. However if you can't find it fresh, don't stress, dehydrated will still be good for her and its not like its an essential. The benefits are that its a natural food for them full of live digestive enzymes and probiotics and they love it! I don't go by exact amounts, just give her a small amount. Its good to give a variety of protein sources because there are different vitamins and minerals in different meats, so feeding a variety ensures they will consume a wide range of nutrients. If she looks fantastic and has a ton of energy then you are doing GREAT |

| You can find tripe in Asian markets, most of the time fresh or frozen. Try asking your butcher at the supermarket, usually they can special order items for you. |

| Editing time out... When I go down to Philly Chinatown or the local suburban Korean market, it is usually pre -packed along side cow stomach, tendons, etc. in the self serve display case. I would ask your supermarket first though, it could save you alot of time and gas if they can order it for you. |

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Yep, that about sums it up Abigail loves it, too. My Mozart won't touch it. My source says her husband won't allow her in the house with it, until it's processed (cut into serving sizes); so, she has to do that outside.

| WOW. My favorite topic I go to the local SLAUGHTER HOUSE as soon as they kill a cow and buy the entire stomach which comprises of three the fourth is ususllay not good. It sometimes weighs about 25lbs, and I DONT WASH IT NEVER WASH OR CLEAN IT, you leave it in tact as IS. All the bacteria and particles from the cows stomach is EXTREMELY beneficial to our dogs. The enzymes that the cow has just before slaughtering are a humoungous benefit to our furry babies. I mince some and bag them and freeze it. I cut slabs and freez and give him to eat during the day. It is EXTREMELY beneficial for plaque removal and also fighting bad bacterial. It is an extremely HIGH PROBIOTIC which is the good bacteria our furry babies need. The protein count is high and healthy. There are NO drabacks to green tripe, only benefits, only draw back is it stinks to high heaven. If you get it straight like I did from a slaughter house, NEVER RINSE IT leave it black and gross looking here is a pic of what it loosk like freshly out the cows stomach There are only PLUSES in feeding it. Also good for baby teeth removal and jaw exercises that benefits the babies. It looks like a creature from the black lagoon, and stinks somethign awful, but my current baby will kill for it. When I mince it I mince all of it so it turns out a dark gray green color. You can feed it alone or I mixed it with baby mashes carrots. But recently I have him on cooked and tripe as a midday thing for chewing and exercising his jaws and to help pull those milk teeth out. He goes to down on it, the moon can fall in the house he can care less. LOL Last edited by soccbydo; 10-18-2007 at 05:51 AM. |

| A STRONG BIT OF CAUTION ABOUT DRIED TRIPE It almost killed my current puppy a month ago. Monitor them carefully when eating it and TAKE it away at the half way mark and THROW it away. It choked my dog and he nearly died. It was a horrific thing for me to endure, and I sweaR NEVER TO GIVE IT AGAIN. I am too terrified to see what it did when it got to the 1/3 marker and how he was dying before my eyes. Anothr thing about green tripe, it is ONLY green once left in tact. Once canned, dried it is no longer green tripe, hence the name. you feed it natural and fresh or fresh frozen. Any grass animal's stomach can be used. NO PIGS please Last edited by soccbydo; 10-18-2007 at 05:55 AM. |

LMFAO, girl, when I brought this THING in my house and emptied the bag in my kitchen sink I screamed out loud. It looked l ike a creature from the black lagon, NO kidding, it was a frightening thing to see and let alone TOUCH, EWWWWWWWW but I had to do it, even using gloves the acids from the cows stomach penetrated and made holes in my rubber gloves lol. Its the best thing we can feed our babies. Now I used to feed him this at nights as his main meal with mashed potato and carrots, but now I have him on a meat porridge and give the tripe as a mid day yummy, in ground form or slab, he enjoys the slab as he is now teething and it helps pull those milkies out . Let me take a look at the site and see. Dont use canned, anythign in a can is processed and is NO longer green, anythign that is cooked and or touched tampered with, washed etc is no longer green. The white tripe you see in the stores is beleached for human consumption and has no nutrients at all. Do not feed your baby this. Best you give him a dirty sock in stead he will enjoy that better let me go have a look at the site before you order ok. Do you live someplae near a farm or cattle ranch, goat, sheep, lamb farm?

| Ok, you see the top one? Green Trip in a roll for like 7.25 for the 5lb roll, you can order that. if you have a saw I would saw it in slices like thin hamburger patties. _Do not OVER feed it. You can even give it frozen to help with their teething and gums, trust me, it will be eaten up. I would cut it back in slices then package in serving pieces. How big is your yorkie? is 2.5 or under kilos then 2oz is more than enough to feed once a day. Is your puppy eating somethign else? Will this be incorporated in the dog food or home cooked? |

I live in NJ, so we have lots of cows somewhere around here. I also know of at least two sheep farms.

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Green with envy of you guys who have FRESH sources! When I feed tripe, I have to order the ground green, and slice it into serving sizes.

No he wont, if you have access to sheep tripe then get it, it is smaller and will not smell as high as cow, also lamb, any grass eating animal you can use. If you live near those places, go ask the owners when they slaughter to sell it to you. It costs but a few bucks
