| When is the best time to neuter? Hi everyone, This is my first time posting something here. I'm new so bare along with me. I have a almost 6 month old yorkie. And I was wondering when is the best time to get him fixed, because theres another little problem that hes having and it kind of worries me. He 2 double teeth and they need to be removed. Please let me know ASAP Thanks Kristina : |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | WELCOME!!! And congrats on your new baby! Neutering is usually recommended around 4-7 months, depending on the dog. Double teeth are VERY common in yorkies and they can remove those during the neuter. You may want to be sure that all his adult teeth have come in before the neuter so that any baby teeth can all be removed during the surgery.

| I'd say any time from 6 months but I know that US vets will do it earlier, where I am vets will not neuter until 6 months. Oh and welcome to YT! |

| A lot of people wait until 6 months. Sydney was just over 6 months when we had him done. Some breeders have the pups neutered before sending them to their new home. I totally disagree with this practice. It's like neutering a baby. |

| I waited until both boys where 8 months, I wanted to be sure if any baby teeth remained by then could then be removed at the same time as the neutering....

| With neutering, I think the earlier the better. 16 weeks is a good time to start thinking about it. If he's 6 months, i'd go ahead and do it and have the baby teeth pulled at the same time

| Most people do it around 6 months, but you can wait a little longer to see if any more teeth will have to be removed.
