| Both testicles didn't drop.. Puck has been to the vet too many times in his life...he's almost 1 year old, and just had surgery 3 days ago to remove his testicles (neither of which had dropped...the vets could never even feel where they were). The surgery, unfortunately, was not a success, as neither vet could find either testicle. Puck is completely traumatized, and I'm not being an overly anxious mother. I've had dogs my whole life, and this little guy is just completely stressed over this. The vet wants me to take him to a specialist to have yet another surgery! Maybe I'm just venting, but I am having so many problems with vets in this city! Puck has been to 3 already, and no one seems to know what to do with him! He's 5 lbs, is healthy now, but was very sick when I bought him. Get to the question, right? I'm sorry...this is just upsetting..I need advise as to what to do. Does anyone know how long I should wait before attempting yet another surgery? I know the risk of cancer and all that, but I have serious doubts as to whether Puck can make it through another surgery. Also, if anyone is in Las Vegas, do you know of a good vet who's capable of handling a Yorkie? Thanks for the help...sorry to drag on. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, gosh, I am so sorry you and Puck have to go through this, it sounds terrible! Poor little fella. I can't believe they couldn't find them. Did they do an ultrasound to get an idea as to where they were? My Wylie had one undescended testicle and his surgery was pretty bad, we ended up back in the ER that night, with a different vet. I think his surgery was bad bc of the vet, not because of his situation. So, I commend you for being reaaaaaally picky in who you'll go to next. I wonder, is there a vet school in Vegas or nearby? I know there is one in Colorado. It might be worth a consult phone call to one of the vet schools. I wish I could help more! Please keep us posted.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | If I am not mistaken, a dog can be born with testes period! Just as humans, things can just not be there or too much be there, etc.. I would think locating the testes first would be wise...Imno vet but just going digging around for something that may not even be there does seem harsh! I pray all works out for you and I would this the ultrasound sounds like a good start! Good luck and take care! And even calling around on the phone and asking what the proper steps are for your baby situation...If all else fails you could always call any vet university and see if they can guide you...I know Tenessee is a big one along with Michigan State! If you want my vets # just to call and ask some questions pm me Ill give you the # granite we are in Michigan, but at least its some answers and you know what to ask a vet to do or what to expect.

| thats so weird that they didnt find it during surgery, when i took Rocky to get nuetered only one had descended when they did his surgery that had to open him up just tiny little bit more and they found the other one. But you cant even tell where the surgery is anymore.

| If they opened him up and still couldn't find them I'd be concerned he might not have the, and another surgery might do nothing but aggravate the situation.

| Poor baby! Only one of Rebel's had descended and the vet had a really ahrd time finding the other one. It was in Reb's upper thigh He had to be opened up just a little more because of this. I'd be really leery of the vet you used before. I, too, think an ultrasound would be in order with your little guy. Please keep us updated.

| I'm glad some of you have mentioned an ultrasound, because I thought that would be a good option. I was wondering why my vet didn't even suggest it! She referred me to a specialist who simply wants to open Puck up again. I am taking all your advice and calling around...unfortunately there are no vet schools in Las Vegas, but I don't mind calling out of state. Thanks for all the replies. I will keep you updated! |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Please let me know what my vet has to say.....they are usually awesome and all 3 vets are younger like under 35, so very up on the latest technology and VERY willing to listen and also explain lots....they are not the "this is how it is types" They let you in on options, protocol, and usually bring papers printed off from Michigan State backing thier thoughts....Its just really comforting to me.
