| Best flea product Does anyone know which brand is best/safe for our pets? I've done a lot of research and here's a chart with all the brands out there. http://www.dog.com/flea.asp?catID=81 Seems like sentry Pro is the best protection for anti fleas, but it is also the cheapest while Frontline and Advantage are the most pricy. |

| Ellie's vet prefers Frontline. I would not use Advantix because it could make your dog feel like something is crawling on its skin. Advantix also has a chemical called Permathrin in it to repel mosquitoes. This chemical is thought to be a carcinogen.

| This is the best flea PREVENTATIVE. The first line of defense is to keep fleas out of your yard. I really try to not use chemicals on my babies, so this is what I do. I realize that some people have large yards (or no yards = apartment dwellers) or there may be other reasons that this won’t work for everyone, but here goes…… Beneficial nematodes are the answer to flea control in your yard. Read more about them here http://www.marchbiological.com/L/ben...nematodes.html They are microscopic organisms that feed on a variety of soil insects and they will keep fleas, etc. out of your yard. If you have fleas in your yard, then you will never get them off your baby. Also, that does not mean that your baby won't get a flea when they go on a walk or that a flea might crawl over into your yard from the neighbors yard. But that can be controlled by bathing your babies in Dawn dishwashing soap or some other non-toxic method. If there are no fleas in your yard, then you CAN win the battle. The nematodes will also keep the fire ants out of your yard and that is a great benefit to those of us who live in the south. They will also eat terminte eggs, just one more advantage to using nematodes. I have used the nematodes for 6-7 years and have not had a flea problem in all that time. I have outdoor dogs living on both sides of my yard too. The nematodes work great! You can usually get them at any organic gardening store. They can also be ordered, but they must be kept cool or they will die, so if you order them, be sure the supplier plans to cool ship them. Also, follow the directions EXACTLY for putting them on the yard. You will have to water your yard in the summer when it is very dry, enough so that the nematodes do not dry up and die - maybe once a week or so, if it is not raining. I have outdoor dogs on both sides of my yard so I put diatamaceous earth around the perimeter of my yard to keep the fleas from crawling into my yard. It works great, but it must be reapplied after a heavy rain. It is also a non-toxic pest control substance. http://www.hydromall.com/happy_grower16.html I sprinkle it on my roses to control little pesky bugs who want to chew the leaves!!! I know is sounds a little nutty, but it really works! I have not had to put any flea control medicine on my babies - or any of my other pets - for the past 6-7 years. Good luck!

| I use frontline spray too. One my large outside dog, I still use the topspot frontline. I know I have posted this before on here, but NEVER use the new product call Triforce. I know of three dogs in this area that had reactions to it the first week it was sold at the pet supply store I work at part-time. All belonged to different owners, so it was not how the person was applying it. |

| k-9 advantix is the only one i will ever use. i switched over to frontline and had fleas all in my home. my vet is discontinuing the use of frontline b/c they have had too many complaints about fleas. he stated advantix kills the fleas and eggs but frontline just makes it so that the fleas do not reproduce so you still have the fleas around. my vet also stated there is a new flea medicine coming out and it is nice b/c treats 5lbs and under which is great for the small breeds. i don't know the name of it.

| I use Revolution on Lucy...and my mom uses it on her two yorkies and my sister on hers. I like it because it takes care of fleas and heartworm, and it's just one easy dose once a month

| I just started do this for the babies, I found it at GMC. They probably would have it at any vitiam or all natural store. But it has to be very diluted! I put about one drop per an onces or liquid/shampoo.

| Frontline We use Frontline as advised by our Vet. Initially we didn't plan to use anything since we live in the city but after a walk in a nearby state park, our baby was covered. It was scary and ticks see so much more than ever. |
