Exclamation EVERYONE PLEASE read for the sake of your little furbabies!!

Ok, I think we all need a "friendly reminder" every once in a while because our lives can get so hectic!

This is for everyone after what my two little babies have been through for the past couple of weeks. I don't want to come off as preaching; I just have completely good and concerned intentions!! My two babies have been very sick for the past two weeks and the vets still don't know exactly what it is. They are on a variety of meds and seem to be getting better, so that is great! But just so you don't have a $700 vet bill, I thought I would share some friendly reminders! I have done extensive research on my own since they have been sick and I personally think it is Giardia, so that is why I am posting this... but this concerns every dog everywhere!

SOME FRIENDLY REMINDERS:
1. DO NOT think that Giardia or similar illnesses won't happen to you because you are very clean! (I am a clean freak and you can't control everything your dog could get, especially if you walk your dog or take them outside!)
2. PLEASE pick up your dog's poop with waste bags! (I was one that thought what comes from the earth can return to the earth, but as it is, having poop lying around can be harmful to your pet, even if it is their own poop.)
3. PLEASE wash all food and water dishes frequently! (If you think about it, you don't eat off the same dish more than once and you don't drink out of a cup for longer than a day, so don't let your pet!)
4. PLEASE wash or at least "spot clean" all of your toys/blankets/bed linings every so often!
5. If you see that a toy has a rip in it or stuffing coming out, sew it up or throw it away!
6. If your dog starts to act differently or you notice something different about his/her health, keep a log of what is happening in case you need to report details to the vet!
7. Research health conditions, illnesses, etc. The internet/google search is a WONDERFUL resource!
8. Be assertive, don't wait, don't settle! If you think something is wrong, at least call the vet, that's free! If you need to take him/her/them in, then DO IT! If you don't like their answer/diagnosis, get a second opinion! Your baby's fate could be in their hands!

IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU HAVE SOME GOOD ADVICE TO ADD, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POST!!

Thanks for reading this long post, now go give your little furbabies hugs and kisses for me!

An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.

Thanks for the post... good advice for sure.

I got to thinking I clean their water dish every day, twice. However, I hardly wash their hard food dish.(Royal Canin Yorkie Food)

I also don't clean their bedding areas as often as I should either.

Thanks,

Matthias

Great advice...we can all use reminders. It reminded me that I need to wash Ziggy's Kong today. Sending prayers for your babies...hope they are better very soon.

Some very good advise. I want to add that chocolate is like poison to dogs and especially small dogs. We went through 2 days of pure worry and stress when my Granddaughter "shared" cake with chocolate frosting with her friend. Davie, all 5 pounds, lost almost a pound, had to be watched 24/7, had the runs so bad, did not move for 24 hours...oh you could not believe what we went through. She is back to her active self, thank God!!!

Thank you very much for your post! It is so great to know that people care so much about their dogs! I take care of my J.C.(Just Cute) like he is my real baby! On August 7th, he will turn 6 yrs old and he is my love !! maybe i go overboard (so my friends tell me!) but in my worst time of my life he helped me so much that he deserves every attentions he gets from me.

Hope your doggies feel better very soon. Sincerely, Ludmila and J.C.
