| Sudden Hairloss in Male?? Hi, I have a 3 yr old that I basically rescued from a mill situation. Well, I'm pretty sure he was in a mill. I paid $100 for him and she had him listed for 475. He arrived looking NOTHING like the numerous pics she had sent me. He arrived with an injured eye, since healed, severely underweight and now that his weight is more normal (needs to gain 1 more pound), he needs to go in for his dental once that happens and will most likely lose most of his lower teeth...if not all of them. HE IS THREE YRS OLD!! He is being neutered as well. This morning, I was brushing him and his hair all along his topline, pretty uniformly and right along his spine, FELL OUT. The skin isn't red underneath, it doesn't look scaly etc. It is just BALD! His liver function came back normal when he was at the vets after arriving but I thought i'd ask here what it could be before once again calling the vet. I'm totally at a loss here as to what it could be. Stress, maybe, but he really hasn't been stressed since arriving, just spoiled. HELP! Kristie |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | First, what a lovely person you are to take him in and heal this little guy. He deserves love and a good home, and clearly he hit the jackpot! I'm not sure what to say about the hair. So, the rest of his fur is normal? Can you post pics? Often, a fungal issue can cause hair to fall out quite easily - with just a slight pull - your vet can do skin scrape/hair pull and see what grows in petri (for fungal). I also wonder though, since he's had such poor health before you got him - if his body isn't just going through a sort of "detox" - sometimes as the body detoxifies, strange things can happen. As lots of healing takes place, sometimes it worsens before it gets better. Hopefully, someone else will have better advice...
