| Is royal canin bad? My little girl was just recently switched to royal canin yorkshire terrier about 2 weeks ago. Now she is getting diarrhea and has been going on for about 3 days. Have any other owners experienced diarrhea because of royal canin? Any past experiences will be greatly appreciated. |

| You might try mixing half and half (old food and Royal Canin) for a couple of weeks then gradually transition to Royal Canin.

| Most of my crew is on it. However, I do have one that I've had to switch, because of skin sensitivity.

| Even if a food is a great one, every food isn't for every dog. I would give it a little longer and if the diarrhea doesn't clear up, then I would probably try another food. Royal Canin just might not be working for your puppy.

| I don't think it's a bad food. Sadie used to be on it. I had to switch her because of some health issues, but put her on a prescription food. I don't think the food is a bad food, it just wasn't right for Sadie. When you switched your baby, did you do it all at once or mix it with the old food? If you did it all at once, I'd recommend mixing it with the old food and gradually put less and less of the old food in there until it's nothing but the RC.

| i agree, it is not a bad food, but even the best dont agree with some dogs...i find neutro a very good food for my big dog, boxer cross akita..but my lillte yorkies cant have it...makes them bad.. i work in a petshop and i feed them on the shops own brand...so sometimes..its not in the name,,,its what suits the dog.

| Royal Canin Hi!!! My two love Royal Canin, of course when changing to ANY new food it has to be done gradually over a period of about a week with only adding a few kibbles at first and gradually increasing the ratio so as to not upset their stomach. It has been my experience that Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier 28 is the best, and my two always have firm dark stools (unless they get into something bad ), My Gracie is a little pirate and will try to "sneak" something if she can, as always, we have to find the best food for them by trial and error.........not any one food serves all

| My Abbie had a reaction to royal canin but it wasn't until she had been on it for 3 months. She kept getting diarrhea, too. Max never had a reaction to it. Maybe you just switched foods too quickly, which may be the reason she's having a reaction to it. Try mixing her old food with the royal canin for a while so that you're gradually introducing the new food to her.

| I did actually mix it in but she didn't want to eat the old dog food. That's the main reason I changed it. She decided not to eat it. lol. Picky little baby... |

| When I switched fron RC puppy to the RC yorkie blend Gizzie would wake up and vomit bile but only in the morning....Strange. But i bought some baby food(make sure it does not contain onion powder) and as soon as she woke up i would give her about 2 tbsp. just to get something on her tummy so when she would eat the RC her tummy wasnt totally empty. Anyway the vomiting only lasted about 4-5 days. I did not mix the food when I switched her so it just upset her tummy. She also has firm dark stools but i would rather see that than diarrhea Good luck!! |
