| I've actually never heard of melatonin for hair growth, but I agree, vitamin e is a good supplement for them. Both of my furbabies get vitamin e...I'm not sure about the dosage if you were to give it to them daily. I put the vitamin e in their homecooked meals. My maltese gets about 100 IU Vitamin E for a recipe that would last about 5 days... So maybe a couple of drops per day??

| Hmm...that's really interesting. I don't know anything about it personally, but I'm interested in vitamins and healthy alternatives!

| Well, we also feed canned food Solid Gold to Nadia. She is spoiled since she has been sick so much and so long. I mix up a whole can of canned and the vet said to put one pill in each can. So I puncture the pill and squeeze it into the food. It lasts a few days so I think it really equals out to be about only a drop a feeding if that really although Nadia is only 1 lb 4 oz. so if they are bigger I would think more would be needed. I would just call your vet in the AM and ask them. The hair took about a week to start growing back and this was with NO hair at all left - just skin and it got really dry before the vit E.

| We buy the softgels, pierce it, and squeeze it onto the food after it has cooled

| Melatonin is very good for hair growth.A small pup under 2 pounds would get a 1/4 of a tablet once a day. I have used this. I had a blue born baby and was lossing some hair at 8 weeks Whispersmom recommended using it and it worked the hair loss stopped. Very safe to use also.Sounds like a good vet trying to use health products,I have never used vitamin E. You can get it at the health store, cut the tablet in 1/2 then 1/2 again ,so in quarters. Here at the Mayo CLinic they use it for regrowth of hair also, but much bigger doses for the humans of course. Last edited by 011011; 06-25-2007 at 04:05 AM. |

| Try rubbing a little castor oil on the affected areas and use a coat supplement as well. Here is some information on what they will help withhttp://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?articleid=1060. You could also just buy fish oil caps for people. Be careful of using too much Vitamin E , it is not a water soluble vitamin. |
