Even if frontline on the dog they can still get bitten by flea and a flea allergic dog can itch up to 3 weeks from one flea bite. The frontline just kills the population but does not kill the flea before they bite i called on this to check as i have a flea allergic dog

All those chemicles used in those flea preventives go straight to the blood stream of your babies, setting them up for some serious medical issues. Mine have never had a flea and I've never used flea products. I put 20 drops of rosemary oil to 16 oz. of conditioner. There are other scents that also repel fleas naturally. Feeding them real food seems to help out as well. I think the awful things that dog food is made from causes their body to give off an odor that fleas like.

| Lacy's allergic to fleas. I've used advantage on her a couple times before but decided to try frontline this time.

I live in Alabama, too, and I'll have to say that we are having an especially bad flea season this year. My vet suggested using the Frontline every 3 weeks instead of once a month. I would also HIGHLY suggest you treating your yard. I live in an apartment complex so unfortunately that is not an option for me, but if it was, that would be the FIRST thing I would do. What I've also been doing is adding citronella oil, lavender oil, and tea tree oil to a spray bottle of water and spraying their legs and underside before they go outside. Those scents naturally repel fleas (supposedly). My babies just contracted tapeworms from the fleas. it's a vicious cycle here. I'm just glad we're moving in 3 weeks. But, I would highly encourage you to treat your yard.

You could also try Minksheen, it has an additive to repel bugs. It also has an antibiotic in it for bites/cuts..... I love it, you can smell the citronella in it.............. God Bless

where do you get that minksheen? We use frontline plus only on our allergy dog as dermatologist is adimant about it on a flea allergic dog- my other two i do not use anything. Frontline plus is what vet and derm recommended and many others as it is water proof.

I find that strange. Buddy has had frontline plus on him for three years and I have never saw any fleas. I did find two ticks on him this past year and called frontline. They said not all ticks are covered by the product but never saw a flea.

| Rosi been on FL+ for 2 yrs and Poli for 1 yr, and so far i have never seen a flea on either of them. Did give them a break during winter, and might of waited too long as Poli had like 5 bites on him that he scratched him self raw on for weeks... allthough i still never saw one on him

Well, I never saw a single flea either until we moved. Before we moved, I never even had any of the dogs on flea preventative and I never saw them scratch and I never saw a flea. So, it all depends on the area you live in. Some areas are much much worse than others.

this may be a "duh" question, but did you only treat the dogs or have you also treated your house? the frontline only kills the fleas that are ON the dog. my mom always "bombed" the house, but my husband said no! no! no! so i got some spray stuff from petsmart (has a picture of a house on it) as a compromise. we have also used a powder you can get at target and it worked well, but was a pain to vaccuum, sprinkle (eeeeverywhere), and then push it into the carpet with a broom. it was supposed to have a pleasant scent (right...) but we left the house while it sat and had the dogs at the grommers. treating the yard will help also, but only in your yard. once you are in a new place, there are more fleas. good luck from flea city, Houston!

If your other two aren't on anything, they could be carrying fleas and transmitting them to your pup taht is allergic to them.
