Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Garlic for fleas?? Okay so I take Diggy and Bella to the vet....We are taking his vacs very slow due to the hypo and my choice. She agrees and gives his shots 2 weeks apart and No lepto at all and no rabies yet (still deciding) anyway.... She wants to start him on revolution tomorrow instead of interceptor and frontline. She also said I could use brewers yeast with garlic in it for a natural flea preventative??? Ever heard of that??? Oh and Diggy went from 2.2 lbs at 12 weeks to 3.1 pounds at 15 weeks....Guess Im feeding him right....lol And Miss Bella went from 5.6 to 4.11 in the time we have had Diggy (7 weeks) And she is eating better than she did before! Diggy is working her out...and vet said she is a much healthier weight for her lil frame now!

| Yes, I have heard about garlic and brewer's yeast too, I think. I haven't ever used them though. I use a natural flea control in my yard, beneficial nematodes, so I don't have fleas in my yard, and thus, no fleas on my babies. For the occasional flea from a walk outside the yard, we just give them a bath in dawn dishwashing liquid. Works like a charm!

| Yes, you can sprinkle a bit of nutritional yeast or brewers yeast on their food to help keep fleas away from them. Also, if you homecook, you can add just a little bit garlic also. But be careful because too much garlic is Very bad for them.

| I hear a lot that garlic is bad for dogs, but then I see garlic in so many treats and things. In fact I just got a doggie recipe book that uses garlic in some recipes. I think you're just not supposed to feed a lot of garlic.

We use the same flea control in our yard, and boy is that stuff great! Here's what it says in my "Home Remedies" book about using garlic for fleas: "Add garlic and brewer's yeast to your pet's daily diet. Even try rubbing the yeast into your pet's fur. Both ingredients are said to make a flea's taste buds curl in disgust. There's no scientific proof, but some pet owners swear by it." Hope this helps. | |

| Yes, I feel the same way about those flea products. There are natural ways to prevent fleas, but be careful with the garlic. Too much is poisonous.
