| Are fruits safe for yorkies? I am wondering if fruits are safe for our little babies. I eat at least 3 apples, 1 banana, 2 oranges, 1/2 of a cantaloupe, 1/4 of a watermelon (seasonal), 1 mango, and about a cup of cherries a day and when I do eat it, Buttercup is at my hands in my face trying to get his piece. So I always give it to him every time. Is it okay for them to have it? |

| Yes, fruits are safe for dogs...Just make sure they don't eat any of the seeds. Seeds are toxic to dogs. My furbabies get apples (peeled and cut into pieces), watermelon, melon, blueberries, bananas (but not safe for dogs with kidney problems)... I don't know for sure if all of those are safe, but the ones I mentioned, I know are safe. Maybe others will have more input

| I give Jake little bites of watermelon, apple and banana because I know those are safe. I also give him all natural applesauce which he loves. I'm not sure about orange, mango, blueberries and cherries, maybe someone else will have a better idea. |

| I've always heard it's grapes and raisins that are bad for dogs, no expert as Winston doesn't get any people food, poor deprived little guy...But he loves his dog food and eats it very well...

| LOL. That's okay that he doesn't get people food. The only things mine get to eat are fruits. |

| Are strawberries OK? They have little seeds on the outside. I like to share my smoothies with them!! We give them bananas and apples (THOSE seeds are bad). I don't give citrus fruits like oranges. I just gave Loki a TINY piece once and he got diarrhea.

| Strawberries are okay, but only in small amounts. There's a toddler snack that I give Jake as a treat...it's freeze-dried bananas and strawberries. He loves these and if he sees me eating them, it makes him want them even more. |

| So does that mean that anything without seeds are safe in small amounts? I think Buttercup gets more than just a 'small amount' he had about 1/4 of my apple today and a whole slice of cantalope |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | too much fruit can cause diarhea. I only do the bananas and apples; interesting what these small walking eateries eat. |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | Teddy and London love fruit! They get mango pieces, strawberries, apple, and they get vegetables too! They don't really like bananas

| I've never tried bananas because an old family friend of mine who calls himself a 'professional chemist' said that potassium isn't good for dogs. I thought potassium was good for you if it was in small amounts. Who knows?!? |

I've never thought about giving him grapes. Wouldn't he choke on that? | |
