| what age do yorkies lose their teeth? My Yorkie baby is 6 months old now and we noticed the yesterday that one of his front tooth was loose and it was hanging on his gums. Then it fell out by itself. I was wondering at what age do they usually lose their teeth... Also, for the past 3 or 4 days or so.. we notice that he wont chew his food when he eat, he just swallows it. Could it be because his teeth is hurting, thats why he is not chewing? |

| I think Lacy lost most of her baby teeth between 5-7months. She had 4 teeth (canines top and bottom) that didn't fall out on their own and had to be pulled by her vet. Usually if they don't lose all their baby teeth by 7-8months, you should get them pulled so they don't mess up the bite or cause too much plaque/tarter buildup. Plus, they have STINKY breath when they have retained baby teeth.

| Gracie was teething between 4 and 6 months. It might have gone to 7 months but I had her spayed at 6 months and they removed the remaining baby teeth at that time.

| 4-6 months old... Both my Rylie and Layla lost their teeth around that time...my fiancee and I had a blast searching the house to find all the baby teeth when they fell out. When I first got Rylie, I had no idea what to expect. When he was about 5 months old, we found 4 teeth and blood on his chew toys within a two day period. I got so scared I picked up Rylie and ran straight to the vet! I can laugh about it now, but I wasn't laughing when it happened... BTW, most vets will gladly extract any baby teeth that are still in when you take your baby to be spayed or neutered before they are a year old...

| yes...5-7 months. I just had Mayson neutered last week at 7 months and the vet extracted one last baby tooth. Mayson did not want to chew his toys or rawhide during the short period of time when it seemed like all his teeth were falling out. Their gums do get very sensitive and Mayson would never let me brush his teeth during this time. Which was unfortunate, because he had crazy horrible breath. |
