| What fruit and veggies are good for yorkies? Britney and Brooklyn love fruits and veggies.. especially bananas and strawberries. Anyone know other types of fruits and veggies are OK to give them?

| Veggies should be given cooked mostly because dogs cannot digest vegetables properly the way humans can. Veggies should be steamed or at least juiced. But a raw baby carrot is fine There are many articles out there on the web regarding this. One website you can go to read more on this is www.b-naturals.com Go the where it says Newsletter Directory and read through those. One of the titles will say something about Vegetables

| I just got my new issue of The Whole Dog Journal and it says Overripe fruits are easier to digest. Don't feed grapes or raisins, which cause kidney damage to some dogs if too many are eaten. Good fruits to feed include apples, bananas, papayas, mangoes, berries, and melon.

| Absolutley RAW!!!!! I have to dissagree here. Cooking the vegetables kills the vitamins and enzymes that dogs need in order to digest these vegetables! Pulverize them in a food processor. Broccoli, carrots, zuchini, squash, sweet potato, all given RAW! All fruits are ok, except for raisins and grapes. Feed in moderation as too much fruit can cause lose stools! But don't take my word for it as I too had these questions about canine nutrition and other concerns! I have purchased Michele Welton's e-books and they changed my life! Visit her website at www.yourpurebredpuppy.com. She's the author of "Teach Your Dog 100 English Words" and other vital information. If you have questions about the e-books, PM me! I don't mind sharing with my fellow Yorkie Talkers! Do yourself and your beloved pet a favor; REALLY educate yourself about their nutrional needs! I did, and and found soooo much more info in her books! They were worth every penny! |

| Just a quick note about alfalfa sprouts....they are a huge source of salmonella....because of their size and the nature of their shape they are very hard to clean and cook properly...i found out the hard way when I was young because i had to put them on every sandwich! Make sure if you're going to feed them to your baby that you clean them as best as possible! |

| I understand what you're saying about raw, like I said, at the very least, they should be juiced/pulverized or whatever you want to call it Dogs can't digest veggies like humans so they have to be either juiced/pulverized or cooked/steamed. But I see what you're saying about cooking them losing their nutrients and vitamins Good point!

| Fruits and veggies FYI - If you feed your dog apples, apple seeds contain cyanide so your dog should not be allowed to eat the core. Though the effects of a few apple seeds will likely not harm your dog, the deleterious effects can accumulate over time if allowed to eat apple seeds regularly. |
