| Head rubbing/urine licking. . . Two unrelated things. . .but both concern me a little. I was told that when he rubs his head on the ground it could be allergies, I'm just worried he has an ear problem because it seems like he is trying to itch his ears or something. Also, Toto not only sniffs other dog's urine but also licks it I don't know why, but I'm guessing it can't be good for him. When he is on the leash I drag him away, but in the dog run there isn't much I can do. Anyone know anything about either of these things?? Thanks! |

| The head rubbing could be an ear infection or ear mite. It is also a sign of liver shunt so you may want to have your baby checked out for sure. Good luck. |

| Could be the ears (ear infection or something), but head rubbing/pressing is a symptom of liver shunt/MVD also, so definitely monitor him and get him checked out.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Take him to a vet and get his ears checked. As far as the urine licking, is he taking big licks or "feathering" the urine?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Is there a specific type/appearance of head rubbing/pressing one should look for? (vs. just itching or whatever)

| My first yorkie had liver shunt and would walk up to the couch with his head down and stand there with his head up against it. If you do a search on "head pressing" you'll get more info. Its not like when they wipe their little cheeks on the floor or couch after a bath.

| When my yorkie head presses, he walks along furniture, walls, and stuff like that rubs his head along it while he walks.
