| Do not give your yorkies rawhide! Rawhide is a very dangerous chew toy for yorkies. The pieces can break off and become lodged in your yorkies airway and kill him. Also, large chunks can be swallowed and cause blockage in your yorkies' intestinal tract, only to have to have an operation done to remove it. This operation is also dangerous, but has to be done in this case. NEVER give your yorkie rawhide treats. |

| Bully Sticks? Where can I get those bully sticks? I would like to buy some for my baby but I don't want a ton to start with. I want to make sure she likes them first.

| I asked the very same question a few months ago, I was told to Google Search it and I did. And now that I know what they are, I'm not sure I want to give that to Winston...Give you a hint, it comes from a BULL...

| Well, bullysticks are........they're umm.....they're made from a bull's penis. Ok that sounds disgusting, and I swore I'd never give Jake any, but I did and he absolutely LOVES them! And, they're nutritious. Flossies are good too. Last edited by SJK1113; 05-15-2007 at 07:20 PM. Reason: add "and, they're nutritious" |

| a BULLS PENIS......... are you really serious? I gave Autumn and Dakota them for the first time yesterday and they loved them. Autumn gave me lots of kisses after she ate hers. Had I known that little tid bit of info I would of passed on the kisses for the day. But I guess hence the name "Bully Stick" |

| Something else about the rawhide... My friend's yorkie almost died from rawhide, but it was because of bacteria. The veterinarian said that bacteria grows on rawhide after the dogs chew on it & get it all slobbery, then chews on it again later. For the gift exchange this time, Kay & Jaxon sent Minnie a dried pig's heart. I know it sounds gross... but the dogs went crazy over it! I'm going today to buy more.

| What do you all think about porkhide? I think it's digestable right? I bought some for my furbaby and he loves them. He eats them justy fine and doesn't seem to be having any digestive problems. |

| I was told to give them cow hooves but they stink! I have given my yorkies sticks that are tightly wrapped. They are called bully sticks and they are almost impossible to come out in chunks. I was told by my vet that bully sticks are good for tiny yorkies to chew. |

| The problem with rawhide, as we found out, was that it becomes so gummy and then the dogs can end up swallowing or half-swallowing pieces while trying to work on them. We use bully stix or hooves. Some hooves don't smell too badly, but it seems to me you never know which one you'll get. You can buy bully stix individually at Petco & PetSmart to try out. |
