Default Treats for yorkies with allergies

Our yorkie, Rolly, has an allergy to certain protiens in comercial pet food & pet treats, he is on a special diet & cannot have anything containing a protien. he used to get a treat but all the treats in the supermarket & pet stores have protien in them & he is cannot have them.

Does anyone know what I can give Rolly that wont hurt him.

I like the Little Buddy Biscuits the Sweetpotato ones.
The size is perfect for our little kids.

No protein, so no meat? Or do you mean no grain? I'm sure I can help you find something if you just give some more details about Rolly's allergies.

Me? Jazzie is on Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance. I give her the duck & potato formula (not on the recall list - thank goodness)!

Jazzie got an allergy test done by a veterinary dermatologist, just a blood test, and we found out she is allergic to (from worst to least):

Cat Dander - yup! Dogs can be allergic to cats!
Dust Mites
Seasonal Pollen

She was so bad that the vet wanted her to start on weekly allergy shots but after switching her food to Natural Balance I've been able to keep her allergies under control with just giving her an antihistamine just a few times a year.

Have you had Cali tested? I understand if it's food allergy it's harder to find the culprit.

Thanks yes I had her tested for environmental and food allergies and she was not near allergic to anything tested. No allergy meds have worked and I just had her back again to the vet who feels it is a food allergy and we need to do the elimination diet to figure out what she can eat. I will try that duck and potoatoe.

He was on prescription Diet A/D as he lost a lot of his wieght, which was good for him as he was very poorly & his apitite was their but everything he ate came back up & he had severe dihorria. He had damaged the lining of his stomach & tore the lining of his intestine because of the allergy & our local vet couldnt find what was the matter with him. He had an endoscopy in october which found these sites of his bleeding & sickness. Blood test showed some problems which was either pancriatitis or intolerance to a certain protien. he didnt really explain what the protien was called just said that it is found in most commercial pet food & was asked to try him on nothing but Royal Canin sensitivity control, in cans, not the dry food, for 12 weeks, which we did. alternatively we could put him on a fresh homemade diet of chicken & rice, as it is bland. We went for the canned option & Rolly got on really well with it & after 7 months he has put on most of the wieght he lost.

He has done really well, since starting him on the canned Royal Canin sensitivity control he has only been sick about 4 times in 7 months which is brilliant for him as he was really sick.

Hope this helps.

These little buddy biscuits sound good I will look into them & see if i can source them here in the UK

Patti, I feed Hobbs Natural Balance Duck & Potato also. Hobbs skin has really cleared up since he's been on this food.
