| Hallie's Little Legs?? We have been walking quite a bit lately (up to 3 miles a day) and while Simon LOVES it Hallie is having some problems. The past few days she will start lifting her feet and walking differently. Sometimes she will just sit down and quit. I'm a little worried about her. She is 5 and I'm wondering if maybe her little legs just hurt. Any ideas? |

| I don't know what to tell you unless its maybe some arthritis in her leg...Hope she starts feeling better, but if not Kimberly you take that baby to the vet.....

| check the pads on her feet....are they dry or cracked? I notice you're in New York...right next to me and it's been pretty hot lately. Maybe the blacktop/sidewalks are too hot for her?

| Three miles a day seems a bit much for these little dogs. I could see it with the larger breeds. Maybe her pads are sore now. They can actually get bruised walking a lot. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i just don't think hallie is used to it. it could be that her pads are sore from walking so much, just like your feet would be. Or it could be that miss hallie anne is out of shape and has sore muscles from walking. Or she could be having knee problems. When she holds her leg up is it the back ones? does it look like she's more uncomfortable around the feet area or the knee area, if you can tell?

Hallie is definitly not as athletic as Simon (who practically runs the whole 3 miles) so maybe we are just going too fast for her? | |

i think its just too much of a work out for hallie. she's probably tired poor baby. maybe she just needs to build up for the 3 mile walk. i'd only take her on the shorter ones for a while and then build up the distance so she gets used to it. however, if even after you cut down on her walks she still holds the front legs up i'd look into it further with the vet.

| i agree... Layla can only take so much walking till she quits.. but she never walks funny... perhpas it is her "elbows" lol... and like Yorkiedaze said, maybe her pads are just plain sore... simon is tough it sounds like! i think i'd be siting and quitting after mile one!! do you have anything you can carry her in?? other than your arms which i'm sure would get very tired! poor Halllie... would she get upset if you left her at home while just you and mr. simon went? and then maybe after supper you can do a walk that is more for her?? |
