Is this Normal for changing food???? Hello Fellow YTers! On Monday, I bought Innova so that I could switchfrom Eukanuba Lamb and Rice Puppy. BeanSprout seems happy with the switch. I give him about 4-6 kibbles of the Innova and about 1/3-1/4 cup of his old food. On his daily walks I give him a totalof 6 kibbles of the new food as rewards. At night I feed him the same as trhe morning. 1. Is this slow enough? 2. His poop is now " voluminus, yellow and soft"(It use to be dark and hard)....Is that OKAY? How do I help the switch go better so that he doesn't get the runs??? Thanks, jen

I am not an expert but I think you should let him on Eukanuba for a little while and try to change later .

Hi Beansprout: How old is your puppy? I tried to do a gradual switch from Science Diet to Innova and my Comet just ate all of the Innova and left the Science Diet. He was almost 5 months at the time. Innova is such a good food and it is made with all raw ingredients. It is one of the most natural diets for dogs. I tried to do the gradual switch but my yorkie didn't go for it !He adjusted to the Innova with no problems. I think that the older your puppy is. The faster the adjustment should take.

I think switching should be gradual and take a week. If his poop is that color, it must have been cleaning/flushing out the system. Sometime's they do get upset tummies when you switch to fast, but you can put some pumpkin in their food and help with the diarrhea/loose stools i'm talking about real pumpkin, not like the pumpkin pie filling it has some fibers in it that help with either diarrhea and constipation but good choice with Innova!
