| Hair in the eyes The hair around Lexi's eyes is driving me crazy! Do I trim it or do I wait until it gets long enough to smooth out of the way? It doesn't seem to bother her (it's not touching her eye or anything). Also, the fur on her head is turning white. It's like I dyed her head black and now her white roots are growing in. She has about 1/8' of black left (only on the ends) Is this common? What color will this eventually turn to? Her chest hair is pure white...but it's always been that color. Will it stay white? Thanks. I'm still new at this! |

I never really liked Yorkies with long hair, so I keep Otis's bangs trimmed <------ see the avatar? So it all depends how you want her to look. If you're going for the long, flowy, bow-on-the-head type look, you'll have to be patient for her hair to get long enough to tie it back in topknot. If you prefer the short look, then start trimming away!! | |

| I just noticed in your pictures that it's not really her bangs, but the hair on top of her nose that's popping up into her eyes. You can trim that easily and still have a topknot. Just be sure to cover her eye with one hand as you're trimming so you don't poke her. |

| We've kept Yoda's area around his nose pretty short, but you can cut it yourself as Junebug says. I'd suggest trying to have someone hold her while you cut, or vice versa, it's hard enough to cut their hair, holding them still AND cutting their hair is quite a chore! |

| If you want to leave Lexis hair long, you can also wait a little and the hair will just to have wait for the hair to grow a little longer and it will part to the sides. You can start dividing in the middle and brushing it to the sides to it starts getting used to it. About the coloration, could it be a very light silver? I have noticed that when the hair changes to almost white, almost all dogs turn silver, instead of the stardard tan/blue. |

| Adina also had the white roots. Now they are slowly turning a very light tan. |

| I think I read somewhere that you shouldn't cut the hair on a yorkies nose around the eyes. It kind of made since to me because of it heading toward the eyes as it grew out again. any one heard of that one? ahia's hair is the same way. I can finally make a small 'front' knot on her (instead of a top knot) and that gets the upper portion off of her eyes. But the nose hair is standing up in her way except when it is wet. I wonder if I can gel that portion down a bit to keep it off her eyes? Buckeye had a small eye infection from his hair in his eyes so much. (top hairs) Vet suggested a bit of hair spray to hold down the little loose hairs. so sometimes I spray my finger and rub it on his loose stuff to help tack it down.

| Chester has a little white hair under his chin and on his chest as well. His mom was a very Sandy colour and we thought what was what he would look like. but he is still black on the body, very miss clairol brown/red on the top of his ear and paws. last year his hair just kept changing colour and we did not know what he would look like, but i think he decided to keep it this way. |

| Yorkies take a long time to totally change the color of their coat, depending on the lineage this can take up to 4 years for them to stay with their definitive color. Mojo's coat is changing verryyy slowly, his belly is mostly black still, and he is 1 yr and 2 months. So that can vary from each dog...as per the hair, when i took Mojo to petsmart to get groomed they did shave the hair on his nose, i hated it, i have to endure months to get these hair off of his eyes again, so if you don't plan on shaving it all the time, in my opinion, you're better off just waiting a while... |
