Dogs that won't eat, have you tried Nutrical? My friend's Yorkie wasn't an eater when she was a pup and she was concerned about hypoglycemia, so her vet suggested feeding her Nutrical. It comes in a tube like toothpaste and it's very high in calories and vitamins. You just pinch off a piece and put it in their mouths. Her vet explained that it stimulates their appetites, and in a few minutes, usually the dog will be hungry and eat as it raises the blood sugar. It worked really well for London, you might want to give it a try. You can Google and find it online or buy it from your vet. It's inexpensive, too, costs about $12 a tube.

I think just about everyone her on YT has Nutri-Cal. You really don't need to order it and then have to pay shipping too. Most dog stores carry it for around $8.00. They also have it for senior dogs which I have for my 15 year old Chihuahua.

This was just in case somebody didn't know... I read a post about a lady whose dog wouldn't eat, and I posted this as a new thread, rather than a reply, because new owners pop up on here so often, and it's worth a repost if it helps just one little furbaby. If this is their first Yorkie, they may not be familiar with Nutri-Cal. I've had Yorkies for ten years and I never knew about it until my friend had problems.

| yes, its good stuff...we were given a tube when we bought Yogi and Dori, they loved it. We bought it again when the puppies were born. There something in it that they love. They would get to the point, they would go in the kitchen and look up to the counter top area where we kept it and bark and bark until they got their "fix" lol..... little spoiled furballs The high glucose will raise their blood sugar quickly and as it falls, it stimulates their appetite.

Yea, the vet gave me some of the nutircal when i first got my pup. He loves it. I put it on my finger 2 or 3 times a day for him. But the fact that it induces their appetite, i dont think thats all true. Because my pup who is 5 mts, would not eat his food at all because of my parents feeding him table scraps. He sometimes lick the nutrical and sometimes denied it.

you new guys really need to be careful giving Nutracal. it shouldn't be used every day and certainly not a tablespoon at a time. your dog might end up with diabetes. it gets their glucose levels all out of whack. it should only be used when they are sick or not eating or something like that to prevent hypoglycemia.
