My Yorkie ate a full KitKat finger. Is he gonna be OK? Kennan ate it while I was in the other room working on the computer. The KitKat case with the lone finger left in it was on my night stand. He grabbed it and ate it in his bed. Now he's sleeping after being scolded. He seems in perfect health so far; the incident was only an hour ago. I heard chocolate is bad for dogs. But he's a fairly big Yorkie at almost 7lbs and ate 45 grams of KitKat.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | That sounds like a small amount. You should be OK. I googled it, and the site below says it would take 2-3 candybars to truly sicken a 10-pound dog. The symptoms of poisoning: Within the first few hours, the evidence includes vomiting, diarrhea or hyperactivity. As time passes and there's increased absorption of the toxic substance, you'll see an increase in the dog's heart rate, which can cause arrhythmia, restlessness, hyperactivity, muscle twitching, increased urination or excessive panting. Here's where the info came from: http://www.petcaretips.net/chocolate-poisoning-dog.html

You guys are right. He's gonna be fine. I didn't want him to have diarrhea, especially tonight, because we are taking him to meet a kitten, which we will adopt if they got along. We'll see how that goes. From now on, I will follow the suggestion on the website and not give Kennaan any chocolate, so that he doesn't get used to eating it. Thanks,

Chocolate is very toxic to dogs. When I thought my Yorkie puppy ate a hershey kiss that I found half-chewed on the floor of this business when we were building our house, I called the vet and he said to be on the safe side feed Savannah 1/4 cup of buttermilk.

This dog is just amazing. He went to the bathroom a couple of times and everything is just fine. The cat is in the apartment. They are getting used to each other. Kennaan is happy (and curious), and Miggrin is still a little anxious. Other than that, everything is fine.
