| We are all afraid because of this stupid recall. I have a 4 month old puppy and a 3 year old both yorkies. Since the recall I have started feeding them Canidae chicken & rice and Merrick brand dry food. Merrick has a lot of different flavor varieties so I buy a 5 lb bag of one of the flavors and mix it with a 5 lb bag of Canidae. So far so good. I also feed them a canned Merrick food every now and then (like a treat) for one of their meals. That Granny Pot Pie smells good enough to eat myself

| Are you guys that feed Natural Balance worried about the food? Just curious cause I might be over reacting. I am not going to feed any "brand" that has been recalled reguardless of what the food is. Wet, dry, or cat food only. I won't feed that brand at all. I am probably being overly cautious I was just curious on your thoughts of that.

| I plan to feed home-made food when my puppy gets older. But while he is still little, I will feed Royal Canin, as it was recommended by a lot of people here on yorkietalk. But that doesn't help you, because I know a few products of theirs were recalled.

I feed Royal Canin also. I don't think it contains wheat or corn, so I think we're safe. I hope it doesn't get recalled for any reason, because it's the only food my dog will eat... and believe me I have tried everything! lol

| Frankly, I'm scared to death, not just for my yorkies but for us humans as well. There is really no telling what we are ingesting. No kidding, I eat out a lot with my children, upper class restaurants and in the last week we have found hairs in three different eating places. I've started wearing my glasses because otherwise I would not see the problems. Of course, what is going on in the kitchen is another story. Chloe and Lacey, my yorkies, get Royal Canin for yorkies which my vet recommended. It has small bites and is dry. I only give them wet food if I cook the chicken and rice, which is what the vet recommends for icky tummies. It is recommended that puppies get a high quality food with little "filler" and about 22%protein, no more. The quality of food you need usually is not found in a grocery store. Also, instead of doggie treats, try green beans, Cheerios, peeled apples and cheese, only a little though and until older I'd limit to one or two different kinds of treats. Honey nut Cheerios are a big hit with mine. |
