BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | Please explain... Lillie goes tomorrow to be spayed and I'm thinking of having her micro chipped. I guess I'm a little stubborn, but can you please explain what this does for them? I know it's for if they are lost or stolen, but does it locate them? |

| From what I've heard, microchipping does not locate them. It isn't like a GPS tracker. But I guess there is a part that can be scanned by a vet or someone with a scanner. So, if your pup was taken in as a lost dog they could scan her to see if the owners information pops up. Therefore, someone has to be proactive in taking your pup into the right place. I've heard (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that there are different types of microchips and not all vets have the same scanner. So the person scanning your pup would need to have the right scanner for the type of chip that you have in your pup. I go back and forth on this issue too.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | No, microchips are not GPS tracking devices. The microchip (the size of a grain of rice) stores information (a number) that is registered with a national registry. If your dog is lost then, they would have to be scanned to retieve the information and hopefully get them back to you . Oops sorry, I was posting and didn't see the reply above until too late.

| I would assume that since you are going to have her out for the one surgery that it would make sense to do the other at the same time.

| I had Kalani microchipped when he was neutered. It's a pretty big needle and he's a little guy so I wanted him to be under anesthesia
