Ant bites? Pimples? What ARE they?! So I'm giving Ceiba a belly rub earlier today and I felt a strange bump near her little hoo-ha so I of course had to investigate. It looked like either an ant bite or a pimple or something. It had a head on it, so I popped it. Then I searched for more bumps and found another one further up on her chest. Tried to pop that one, but she was too squirmy. Anyway, I wish I had taken pics to show you all, but what is everyone's best guess as to what those bumps are? (I automatically assumed ant bites since she plays in the flower beds, it's Florida and red ants are everywhere!) Can they have been just pimples? (Can puppies even GET pimples!?) Do I need to be concerned either way?! Last edited by Ceibasmom; 04-18-2007 at 11:08 AM.

I've heard of many puppies who get "puppy acne." My lab had a few of those bumps once and my vet confirmed it was puppy acne. I wouldn't worry about it unless the bumps get out of control or start really bothering her.

If your little Ceiba was in the flower bed with the ants, I would put my bottom dollar on ant bites. The ant bites we have had started off as a little red spot and within a day or so were a yellowish pimple looking bump. If you open the bump, remember to clean it well and treat it with a topical antibiotic ointment such as neosporin.
