| Warms? Please HELP! ATTENTION: Please do not read the below thread if you have a weak stomach or easily disgusted OMG, when I was getting ready in the morning to leave for work, I smelled poop in my baby's xpen...I decided to change the newspapers before leaving as I did not want him to smell his own poop all day...When I approached to the xpen, there was nothing in there but a very strong smell...I picked Roscoe up and I felt something wet...When I turned him over to see his butt, I saw this weird oozing white stringy thing coming out of his butt with yellow poop-like thing...I pulled the white things out with Puppy Wipes but it was all over his back legs...It looked like a very thin noodle thing but it was not moving...It honestly did not seem like warms but rather seemed like noodle...It was very disgusting and sticky...I really apologize for the disgusting description but I am very desperate...Any clue what this might be? Are these warms? He was dewarmed on March 19th last...

| They sound to me like tape worms. What kind of wormer did you use and what does it say it treats? I use Nemex 2. It treats everything. You might want to take the pup to the vet. Maybe even take the puppy wipe with these little "things" on it in a ziplock baggie with you and ask the vet. Good luck and hopefully some one else has a better answer thats just what I would do.

| Sounds like a worm. Certain types of worms can be very long (whipworms I think). It is common for animals to still pass worms after they've been de-wormed and I believe there are also worms that aren't killed by your typical de-wormer. I would call your vet and decribe it and then they can give him either more de-wormer or the right kind. No worries, but it definitely needs to be taken care of because if there are any live ones in there, they can wreak havoc on puppy's system. Good luck!

| I just got off the phone with vet and I guess you ladies are all right...He thinks he might have worms and I made an appointment for him for today...I understand that puppies get worms and I dont want to sound like a bad mommy but I am very disgusted...Is there anyway I can get tape worms from him? Is there anything I should do to prevent from getting worms? I am beyond sick with the idea...

Sorry , if it may sound a little rude but the only way to know for sure is to have a stool check . If you have some , your doctor will prescribe medication. For now , please don't panick with that . Last edited by Gazou; 04-16-2007 at 05:56 AM. | |

| For starters, I would change his papers as soon as he poops. Use gloves, and wash your hands very often! Also make sure you change the towel in your bathroom, after you wash your hands, or maybe use paper towels. |

| The things that gross us out ...My vet has told me the "routine" worming that is given with check-ups..BEGINS the work and if they are positve for worms the treatment should be repeated for 3 days...he does stool checks to see if they are postive, if yes, he treats and sends home the additional 2 days supply, if neg, he doesn't treat...You might ask yours about this????? We love our Vet and trust him. He uses Panacur

| worms hi i had this porblem a with 2 puppies i had, and now i always pay 10.00 and by the tape dewormer "trade winds" i get it off ebay for 10.00 and i repeated the steps. you give 1/2 now and 1/2 weeks later. since i started doing that i havent had the problem with puppies, i also give them the hook/round worm dewormer its 3.00 at petsmart/target/walmart. and i give that often, puppies every 2-3 weeks adults every couple of months its really exspensive to take the dog into the vet for tape dewormer, each visist i made before was over 100.00 now i pay 15.00 and dont have worms i also bleach the house afterwards!! i am also doing that for my little puppies before they go to their new homes, so the new parents wont have this problem good luck!! Eww those things freak me out |

| Tapeworms are caused by your pup eating fleas, they look like little grains of rice in the pups stool. The grains are actually segements of the worm that have broken off. You can purchase a dewormer for this from Petsmart, read the directions for dosage. Much cheaper than going to the vet for this type of worm treatment. Of course if you are not sure that it is tapeworms you should go to your vet for a fecal float to determine what type of worm it is. Best of luck.
