| Sharing heartworm and frontline between 2 pups I have had Dior since Nov. of last yr. and in Feb of this yr i just got a baby Maltese. I purchased him from a breeder in Va. beach and she told me that i can split the medicine between the 2 because together they are both under the 25lbs. Have any of or do any of you do this? Or should i stay away from her advice?

| I ve heard of people splitting the flea medication I would not split the heartworm. You dont know how the meds are concentrated in each tablet. You could be giving not enough medicine if you split it

| I have been told by my vet you can split heartgaurd if the dose is for a 20 pound dog then you split it. But I was also told by another vet not to I do trust the first more she has Yorkies. But I would not do it because they don't back up the meds when you do it. They state that if you give it year round and the dog gets heart worms they will cover cost of getting rid of the worms but you have to give it to them year round and get test every year. |

| Heartgard warns not to split the heartworm chew. "While we never suggest splitting dosage forms for multiple pets, it is even more of a problem with heartgard plus as while the total dosage of the chew is accurate, the active ingredient is not uniform throughout the chew. so dividing it can give you unequal dosing in the divided parts."

| There are many other all natural ways to keep fleas and ticks off without those harsh chemicles that can and do cause serious medical problems, like cancer, liver and kidney problems. |

| My vet told me that I could split both heart worm and frontline. In fact he said for the small dogs if there is no other dog to share it with to throw half away cause it is really too much for such small dogs. |
