Please share any homemade dog food recipes? Hi guys, I'm starting to really stress over what I'm feeding Riley. I was feeding him Nutro maxx and when I heard about the first recall, I went to Petco to change his food. The lady there convinced me to switch to Eukanuba for Yorkies. Even though the wet was on the recall list, she convinced me. Now, I don't want to keep feeding it to him because I heard they are having issues. I want to cook Riley chicken for right now until I can get a good recipe. But I'm scared because Riley is always trying to beg for human food and I don't want him to think he eats our food. If anyone has a good recipe for yorkies, please post it here or pm me. I'm stressing out!!!

| Here is what I do..... 1-2 lbs Boneless, Skinless Amish Chicken Breasts, boiled 1.5 C Gourmet Brown Rice Blend, booked in rice cooker 1 Large Sweet Potato, peeled and steamed 1 Lb Asparagus, steamed 1 Bag, Organic Baby Spinach Leaves, steamed 1 Small Bag, Baby Carrots, steamed After everything is cooked, I cube the chicken, cut the veggies into small pieces, mix it all together and then put into 2C freezer containers. I thaw a container as needed. I feed this for dinner, about 1/4 C heated in the microwave for 20 seconds. One freezer container feeds my two girls for a week. You can substitute any other veggies or meat. In the morning, I feed Stoneyfield Organic Yogurt - a heaping TBS with Missing Link mixed in. They also get bites of fruit during the day and a little kibble (Solid Gold) during the day (less than 1/4 C).

Homemade dog food I totally understand your fear about the recall. Alpo & jerky treats were also just recalled as well as Pounce for cats. I have a special interest in canine nutrition. I do not like Iams/Eukaneuba, Nutro, Purina, Science diet etc. They all have corn and/or wheat. Wheat is the problem with the recall. Dogs do not need wheat, corn, or soy. Dogs are herbivores. Someone posted a home made recipe which was good. Just remember if you are going to do that you should switch the protein sources occasionally as well as the veggies. Its a good idea to supplement with good vitamins like the missing link because if you keep feeding the same thing they can become deficiant in some vitamins. Another option is to purchase a dehydrated all natural organic dog food and just add a protein source. I like Dr. Harveys canine health, it has everything you need in it, just add cooked protein source. Dr.Harveys.com As far as dry kibble I like Wellness, Innova, Canidae, Newmans. These foods are not available in Petco/Petsmart, only at smaller family owned pet stored which I support. I am not a veterinarian so if you need more help consult a veterinary nutritionist. Your dog will not know he is getting "people food" as long as you eat first, then put your dogs food in his bowl! Good luck!! Lynne

"LuvMySissy" How much do your babies weigh? I've been trying to determine how much to feed my Sparky. He weighs about 7 lbs 8 ounces, and will be 5 months old the 12th of this month. I still feed him twice a day. I have cooked him up some mixed veggies, some vegetable pasta cooked in chicken broth, some chicken (boiled) and beans. I usually feed him about 1/2 cup twice a day. Lunchtime is about a tablespoon of yogurt or cottage cheese with a boiled or scrambled egg (cooked in the microwave). I mix wheat germ in his breakfast and try to mix his vitamins in somewhere along the day. He doesn't like the taste of it though so I may have to get something else. How does this sound?

Yummie dinner for two! Well this is my first post but I have been enjoying this forum for quite a while. My 12 year old cat is a victim of the menu food poison. It was a horrible death & I miss her dearly. SO, I will not let them kill my two little Yorkies also. They are my loves & my life. So I have been reading all the wonderful recipes on this board & my little ones think I am the best. They look foward to breakfast & supper & I love cooking for them. They appreciatte my cooking more than my husband & he really loves my food. Thanks for all the great recipes!
