| Natural Balance Dry Formula vs. Canidae Hi everyone -- In light of this recent dog food recall I would LOVE to hear some of your opinions on Natural Balance Dry Food and Canidae...I would like to switch my 2 over to one of those mentioned above (or if anyone has a better suggestion, I AM ALL EARS!) Thanks!

| You can compare ingredients below. They are both very high quality premium dog foods. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. It all will come down to which one will your dog eat better? Both of these companies will send you free samples so you might want to try that and see which your dog likes best. I tried the Natural Balance first but they were not eating it well. I am sticking with Canidae -- I use both the canned and dry. Natural Balance: Chicken, Brown Rice, Lamb Meal, Oatmeal, Barley, Duck Meal, Potatoes, Carrots, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Tomato Pomace, Natural Flavor, Canola Oil, Brewers Yeast, Fish Meal, Salmon Oil, Lecithin, Whole Ground Flaxseed, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Inulin, Taurine, Spinach, Parsley Flakes, Cranberry, Lysine, L-Carnitine, Yucca, Kelp, Vitamin E Supplement, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Potassium Iodide, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B-1), Manganese Proteinate, Manganous Oxide, Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, Biotin, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Manganese Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B-6), Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2), Vitamin D Supplement, Folic Acid (Vitamin B). (23% crude protein) Canidae -- Chicken Meal, Turkey Meal, Brown Rice, White Rice, Lamb Meal, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Herring Meal, Flax Seed, Sun Cured Alfalfa Meal, Sunflower Oil, Chicken, Lecithin, Monocalcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Linoleic Acid, Rosemary Extract, Sage Extract, Dried Enterococcus Faecium, Dried Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus Oryzae Fermentation Extract, Dried Bacillus Subtilis Fermentation Extract, Inulin (from Chicory root), Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Fermentation Solubles, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Mixed Tocopherols (source of Vitamin E), Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Ascorbic Acid (source of Vitamin C), Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (source of B2), Beta Carotene, Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Calcium Iodate, Folic Acid, D-Biotin, Sodium Selenite, Papaya, Vitamin B12 Supplement. (24% protein)

| Buddy has been on Natural Balance Orgainic for two years and just last month I started mixing Canidae with it to give him a second option for food. Canidae did send me a couple samples. I went on line and requested them. They were here within the week. I believe Buddy's coat got even shinner eating the Canidae which is another reason for switching over. YT'ers have mentioned that it is so good for their babies coats. Both are excellent brands. The Natural Balance Orgainic is a little lower in protein which is why I add fresh boiled chicken to each feeding. Now he won't eat without the chicken! It's no big deal I just boil up the chicken on weekends and keep it frozen. Check out his coat. I am very pleased it is coming in so nice. |

| Loki was on Natural Balance for several months and then Canidae for a year. I prefer the Canidae. With NB he still had occasional diarrhea even with no treats or bones or anything. Once we switched to Canidae that cleared right up. He also liked the taste better and ate quicker. Also: We only switched because Sammy didn't like the Canidae so I found one she liked - Evo - and switched them both.

If your dogs didn't like one variety of Canidae, you could always try another. I go back and forth between All Life Stages and Lamb/Brown Rice. I noticed Snickers has less runny eyes on the Lamb/Rice. Both Merricks and Canidae are excellent foods.

| My Emma eats Merricks Grammy's Pot Pie dry food and a variety of the canned Merricks....She Loves it as long as I mix the two. She won't eat the dry alone. I think maybe because she's spoiled and knows she doesn't have to. LOL

| Neither of mine will eat the Natural Balance. I feed them the Canidae Chicken and rice - they won't eat the Original Canidae one either. I got samples of the regular, the lamb and rice and the chicken and rice. They eat both Canidae flavors but not the regular and won't touch the Natural Balance. They won't even touch Chicken Soup and I have heard great things about that one too. I gues my babies are WAAAAYYY to picky

| Canidae I have been feeding Canidae for the past two years. Here is a pic of Peppy after his MinkSheen bath. Good coats begin from the inside out and take care of it with a good quality shampoo. |
