| I would say call the vet also. I don't know how much could be lethal or dangerous to a pup. We have these ant traps in our house too.

| I'm sorry to hear about that...How is he reacting? Is he having seizures or anything like that? How much does he weigh? If he's not acting himself you should really take him in to the vet. I found this information online: Ant Traps. If an ant trap is ingested, the only real concern is the potential for obstruction if the object or container becomes lodged in the stomach or intestines. Most ant and roach traps are made from either sticky paper or chlorpyrifos, which has a low level of toxicity in mammals but is highly toxic to insects. Also, you can expect some vomiting and maybe even a little diarrhea from eating a non-food item. Other websites say that it could be toxic to dogs though such as http://www.thepetcenter.com/wai/poi_Tips.html, so I don't know! Also, on that website I found the following information: The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, an operating division of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is a unique, emergency hotline providing 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week telephone assistance to veterinarians and pet owners. The Center's hotline veterinarians can quickly answer questions about toxic substances found in our everyday surroundings that can be dangerous to animals. The Center maintains a wide collection of reference materials and computer databases that help provide toxicological information for various species. Veterinary professionals provide around-the-clock, on-site coverage of the Center. The licensed staff members share over one hundred and ten years of combined call center experience and over seventy-five years of combined toxicology, clinical, and diagnostic experience. The phone number of the Center is 1-888-4-ANI-HELP (217-337-5030 outside of US and Canada). Please call. |
