We leave it out for him, and everytime i take him out of his crate, or when me or someone holds him and puts him down, he runs to get some water. is that normal? and also, he's about 3 and half months old. |

| It may be something to worry about but then again it may not. From what I have observed, males dogs in general drink more water than female dogs so they'll have enough liquid in their system to "mark," which is an instinct they have. My male doesn't mark but he still drinks significantly more water than my female. I had a blood panel run on him and everything was normal, so I don't worry too much about it. Several people I have talked to who have a male and a female say that their male drinks more water than their female, too. In your case, I would definately take him to the vet and get blood work run just to be safe. But, if nothing shows up, don't panic. It is probably just him being a male. |

| I know! Isn't that wild? I work with a lady who is a professional dog breeder (she breeds Chesapeak Bay Retrievers) and she confirmed that this is true. They've gotta have enough water to pee out so they can mark so they tend to drink more. |

| Our Toto [female] always drinks lots of water .... and she has done this ever since we brought her home at 16 weeks. She has been checked insideout several different times and sees her vet every couple of months. [OK ... we're a tad over-protective! ] Our vet says that some just love the taste of water and she's one of them. We take a bottle of water even if we are just going for a short walk. It would be wise to have your baby checked out but it may be that he likes the taste of water.

| Sounds like he isn't getting all the water he needs. He should have water even in his crate. They sell water bottles to attach to the crate. If he had water at all times, I don't think he would be so eager to run get it when he's out of the crate. The weather change will also cause dogs to drink more too. |

| I bet your baby is fine...Teagan loves water and has recently started drinking a lot (or maybe she always has been and I've just noticed it). I took her to the vet last week for something unrelated and mentioned it; the vet didn't think it was anything to worry about. He said she was young (6 years) and doesn't exhibit any other symptoms, so he didn't feel she needed a test. She isn't peeing like crazy and her diet hasn't changed or anything. He said certain rawhides or treats or what-have-you can make her thirsty. I know that when I used to give her Greenies (I KNOW! NOT ANYMORE!), she drank LOTS on those occasions. I really think she just likes water, especially if I have a glass or I put down a fresh bowl. I give her new water 4 - 6 times a day. It's filtered and my roommate thinks I'm nuts, but I don't like stale water and I'm sure she doesn't either! I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but our bedtime ritual includes me bringing a little saucer of water to Teagan while she sits on my bed before lights out - she gets one more drink before going to sleep!

| I noticed that Hannah has been drinking alot more water than usual too. This has been going on for the past few days also. I started to worry that she may have diabetes..... Then when I thought about it I figured that it was probably because we have had very warm days this week and she has been outside playing alot more. |
