Eats newpaper.. I have been trying to train my yorkie to go on newspaper (can't take him outside yet). She is doing a great job at it, but the only problem is she likes to tear them up and eat them! She doesn't digest a lot I think since most of the pieces are all around the room she is in during the day. I also had tried pee pads, but she destroyed those as well. I even bought the pee pad holder and she manage to undo that and tear up the pad. So as you can see, it is making like a little difficult. But my main concern is....is too much newspaper going to hurt her? Her poop looks normal and it doesn't appear to upset her tummy. Does anyone elee's yorkie have this problem?

My Higgins will rip any paper he can find into a million pieces! He just LOVES making confetti! I think all terriers do...... They don't really swallow much of it. And if they do? Newsprint is sterile, so it shouldn't hurt them. If his poops are normal, I wouldn't worry. Just think....you have a very literate pooper!

I agree to with Higgin's mom it is a terrier thing. Rudy loves paper too, Maddie not so much. I have seen others post that they use cloth pee pads. Maybe that will work for her. I know when I come home and there was paper left some where it will be torn in tiny pieces. The look on there faces are priceless when I say you did that...................Cindy

Yes, we use cloth pads and Yoda has never chewed that up. He's chewed up plenty of paper and Kleenex, though! I have no idea if newspaper ink is harmful for pets, but I'd try to avoid them chewing it if possible, as it can't possibly be good for them. Maybe let her have some Kleenex to shred immediately after she pees on the newspaper as her reward.
