| PetSmart/Banfield's Optimum Wellness Plan Does anyone have this? From what the guy at PetSmart told me, it coulds like a good plan. They have 4 different price levels, but I would have to get the one for over $300 a year because it covers dental cleanings. here's a link to it: http://www.banfield.net/health/owp.asp It sounds good to me, but I figured I would see if anyone on here had it and if it really is worth the money. -Christina

| I have it and like it. I think it's great for the 1st year to get your pups shots all up to date. After the 1st year i would say cut it and get pet insurance. |

| I have it also. For both of my pups. The good thing about it is, all their shots and getting them "fixed" is free. Also, you can take them in for doctor's visits as much as you want or need to and that is free also. There are also a few other tests or whatever you get free. The kicker is, you get charged for any type of test or meds you get at doctor visits. And I'm sure they charge a little more for that stuff. Both my dogs got fixed, and the first one they charged me for clipping her nails, cleaning the anal glands and pain meds. I had no idea they would charge me for that stuff. I ended up paying around $80. My second dog just got fixed last week, and they wanted to charge me for the same stuff, and I told them I would trim his nails myself, his anal glands were just cleaned, and I have left over pain meds. They ended up charging me for some other meds they gave him and I had to pay $23. Every time I take them in for a concern I have, they have to do some kind of test (with the exception of one time). I always end up spending about $60-$125. One of my babies has had a urinary tract infection, my other baby had skin problems. It costed me a fortune. All in all, I would have paid out the butt for those issues anyway some where else also. But, the doctor visits themselves are free. I don't think I'm going to continue the plan after the first year. I'm paying all that money on top of the $40 a month for the plan. I'll have to really think about that one. |

| My daughter has it for her cat. And she says its great! The plan provides for alot of expensive care at very low cost to you. Free spay and shots and other stuff, you only have to pay for medicines. |

| If you're looking for a vet that is personable and really gets to know your dog, then Banfield probably is not the way to go. The Banfield right by USF is decent, if you decide to go with them, but if you're looking for a great vet with affordable prices who really cares about the animals, then you should go to Companion Animal Hospital. It's not far from USF, and they're a lot less expensive than almost everywhere I've been. Dr. Duke saved my Miko's life when all the other vets did not believe he could be saved. It's a small animal hospital, but I can guarantee that you don't find people like that very often. His whole staff is just as wonderful as he is. They really love what they do, and have huge hearts. If you want their contact info, please pm me.

| If you are going to pay 300 a year, you may want to look into pet insurance. It covers expensive accidents as well, so you don't have to worry about taking out a loan in case of an accident.

At the Banfield I go to, there are two doctors. I can't stand one of them. He is not personable at all and doesn't seem to care about my dogs at all. And when he does "try" to act concerned, it seems so fake. The other doctor is a woman and I really like her alot. She knows alot about my dogs and is really gentle and caring. And she listens. I've also been to other vets that I didn't really care for. It's just like trying to find a decent doctor for yourself. They are hard to find. | |

| what i have learned about bandfield is that is not run buy doctors but by business men, and they are over priced and give out incorrect info, for example..a hernia surgery they wanted my pet to have they were going to charge me $1000.00 several calls later the most anyone else chargered was 150-350.00 plus they double charge you for the distemper vaccines they charge (here) 27.00 for one part and 14.00 for another... THESE SHOTS ARE COMBINED BEFORE GIVEN and no one, NO ONE has ever charger twice for that the same shot any where else!! and i cant stand any of the vets.. and they always push the most priciest stuff..BUT that is because it is ran by business of men not vets so my opinion? STAY AWAY FROM BANFIELD |

| I agree. I think they are overpriced for the things they do make you pay for. |

| I live in SC and I have my little one with Banfield. I love it. I have taken fantasia there and so far only had to pay $17.00 for her anal glands. She has been back for shots and blood work and all was free. The Dr's are all nice and explain everything they do. I can take her if I feel she is not feeling good and don't have to pay.I love it. |

Oh, and what you're saying about them always charging you for something extra is true! My friend took her dog there and signed up for the plan and did rabies and everything, but on top of having to pay the initial sign up fee and the first month of the plan, they found an ear infection, gave her meds and a cream, and just incase he had an allergic reaction to the rabies, they pushed a benadryl shot too! She ended up paying over 60 dollars on top of what she had already paid. I think I might only get the plan just because i do eventually want to get his teeth done, but I won't do it until he needs his shots, that way it's more worth it.

they were actually cheaper than the vet I currently go to. but i've been looking into switching vets for a couple month now, just because my vet doesn't seem "right" to me.
