| My yorkies ears!.. help! Hello I got a 12 week old yorkie (chato) and his ears have a problem. Please read his history: == His breeder shaved off his ears when I picked him up so that the hair would not weigh on them and could stand == THe next day I took him to the vet and he decided to taped them. == His ears got immediately erect and cute. == Suddenly they started to lean backward from the half up ==I taped them again for 3 days == Got perfect for some hours. == leaning back from the half up They seem strong in the base but from the half up they lean backwards!!! please tell me what to do and if you have had this problem. Should I leave them alone? or go see the vet? Chatos Mama. |

| I think that if you really want them to stand this is the time to insist on taping them. Once they get older there is no hope. He is still a baby so...........my opinion is to keep taping them. Make sure you are doing it the correct way............there is ton of info in this site or google. If they never do stand up, they are still gorgeous. Personally, I LOVE floppy eared yorkies.......... P.S. I want to see a pic of chato Good luck

| Our Reggie was almost 6 months old before her ears finally stayed up. I did the tape thing, twice, then I gave up because she would keep taking it off. She would hold her ears up when I was looking at her but as soon as I turned my back, she would let them flop down. I know it got to be a game with her because I would point at her and tell her to get her ears up, and she would..... until I turned my back! Now I start to trim our pups ears around 5-6 weeks old and let them come up on their own. Some pop up much quicker than others.

| You will find that people who show Yorkies will shave the ears of the puppies and tape them with the tape that doesn't pull the hair. It takes longer than three days for the cartilage to strengthen. Just keep them wrapped for a few weeks, but change the tape every two or three days. |
