| Does she need her teeth brushed? Are yorkies supposed to have their teeth brushed regularly? Lucky is a major chewer. She chews her flossing rope and rawhides regularly. Also, she eats mostly dry kibble. How often does she need her teeth cleaned? |

| Might want to watch the rawhide though...my vet and breeder said it's not good for them..not quite sure why..but definite yes to teeth brushing...you can make it a game...with the finger brush let them chew it on your finger and do what you gotta do and let them play with it for a minute then put away...Maximus loves chewing on it because he thinks he's not supposed to have it...lol |

| I agreed with the rawhide, I heard is not good for our babies. Big Yes, Brush your baby's teeth daily. Is a battle to brush Gucci's teeth. She hates it, she hides when she sees the toohtbrush, but I still do it cause Yorkies or toy breeds for that matter tend to have problems with their teeths. Gucci loves her rope and dental bones, but I still brushe her teeths. |

| Sorry, if I sound dumb, but how do you brush them? Just the toothbrush alone? I'll admit I've never personally brushed them...bad Mommy.

| Thanks for the tip Marie. I have the toothbrush so, I'll just buy the toothpaste. I should really take better care of Josie.

| Pookie and Boo Boo use a beef flavored toothpaste and special doggie toothbrushes made by Petrodex. The first time I just let my dogs lick the toothpaste from my finger. The next few times I used a brush with a very small head. Then I began using the regular dog toothbrush. After a couple of weeks my babies became used to the routine. |

| Rawhide isn't the greatest for dogs because they can chew off pieces of it and it gets gummy and can lodge in thier throat. Because its gummy and all slimey then from chewing on it it is almost impossible to dislodge it. Sorry if that sounded really gross. If you seem to have a hard time with tooth brushing to start out with. Try letting your little one lick the toothpaste off your finger for a day or two. then without the toothbrush just start massaging thier teeth and gums for a day or two then work up to the toothbrush. Memphis isn't a big fan of getting his teeth brushed but I found that this worked great for him. I used a finger brush for him since its a little less scarey to him. |

| Jerry used to do well with the teeth brushing and all of the sudden, he really started hating it, so I only do it when he's "in the mood", but I think we need to do it more...thanks for the reminder everyone |

| Just got my 9 year old home from vet yesterday from have tooth surgery. Not fun, and very expensive. Had to have 4 teeth pulled. Because I didn't know to brush her teeth. My fault. So sorry. I don't know how to do it, her mouth is so tiny, can't find a brush that I think is doing the job, of course she hates it, but we are going to do it from now on. My advice??? Brush those teethy's! Ha. |

| I brush Max's teeth daily... with a few exceptions... but he does mind at all! He likes the taste and I think he likes the feeling too, I think its like a massage for his gums! I bought dog toothpaste but I ude a cat tooth brush because it fits in his mouth better.
