| Help! Is Kodi sick? My puppy Kodi is 13 weeks old and weighs 3 lbs. We have had him for 4 weeks and he has always slept alot (he's a growing boy after all!) but also played very energetically off and on during the day. For the last 2 days Kodi has been vey lethargic and is sleeping all the time. I even had to wake him up this morning to take him out. He has a cough that happens mostly in the evening (he makes a gagging sound and then a hack like he is spitting up a hairball) but has been doing this for a while. He was at the vet last week who checked him for Kennel Cough (no) and collapsed trachea (no- but no xrays were taken). He is being treated for scabies but they are almost gone. His eyes are running a little. I think I am a little obsessive about his health. He had bloody diarrhea right after we got him, then skin mites that made him scratch like crazy. Is it normal for him to have spells (days) where he just sleeps all the time? He won't even play with his favorite toy. |

| I hope Kodi feels better soon. In my opinion I would keep taking him back to the vet until they find out why he isn't feeling well. If you don't get answers then maybe take him to another vet. It just seems odd that you have to wake him up in the am and such after sleeping all night...he should be ready to play in the am. Did the vet say anything about hypoglycemia (sugar levels being off) ?? Keep us posted.

| Maggie is very much like your baby. She is 11 weeks old, likes to sleep. I too have to wake her up to take her out. That coughing sound may be the reverse sneeze that they are so famous for. Maggie did it one day and it scared me to death. It sounds like a harfing sound, just like she is trying to clear her throat. I let her lick on an ice cube and it stopped. Somebody told me to hold their nose and it will stop. She hasn't done it again. It never hurts to get a professional opinion on that though. As far as her bowels, some days they are loose. I think two things contribute to that. One, puppies put everything in their mouth. When I take Maggie for a walk, I am constantly bending over and removing all kinds of crap she insist on eating. The other could be that they are teething. Today she is somewhat down and out. She is laying on a baby quilt right in front of me on the computer desk. She was way too active yesterday, ate way too many sticks, and just wore herself out. Today, she doesn't have much of an appetite. I have been trying different foods, but nothing is getting her attention. I gave her a dose of Nutrical for safe measures. Hope this made you feel a little better and that your baby is only going through puppyhood and nothing is serious. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Trace naps quite a bit. It's pretty much his schedule, get up, play, sleep a couple of hours, play, sleep again, play, sleep. The only time he sleeps for what I consider an unusual amount of time is, like the above, he does too much the day before. This is really true on Mondays, where he comes into work with me, because we spend a great deal of time outside on the weekend then Monday he totally crashes all morning You could take her temperature if you have a baby rectal thermometer. The temp should be 101. Hope she's better soon. |

| Thanks! Thanks for all the advice. Kodi is indeed better and I think he was just having a droopy day. |
