| teeth ah gee right when you think you got it all under control something else happens to make you question. do the puppy teeth fall out before the adult teeth like in humans? I went to brush Ahia's teeth this morning and found she has 2 set of teeth. Only one baby tooth is loose as far as I can tell.

| Most small breed dogs turn into little piranhas around 5-6 months of age. Their baby teeth often DO NOT fall out, but must be removed. Most people have the baby teeth pulled when their pup is spayed or neutered. Higgins baby teeth were still firmly in his jaw when he was neutered, so we had to wait. All the baby teeth except his four big canines fell out okay, but he just had to have the canines pulled. Yorkies ain't cheap..... |

| As Mary Ellen said the best time is when they are spayed/neutured - despite having two previous yorkies I never knew that the baby teeth often had such deep roots that they didn't fall out of their own accord until I came on yorkie forums and read all about it so ---- I asked for a "dental" on Gypsy Rose when she was spayed at a year old and she had FIVE baby teeth pulled out! I will do the same for Gizzie Chavi but not just yet as she is only 14 weeks!! Oh, and those baby teeth WORK so well - if she looses any they'll be embedded in me or Gypsy Rose!! Ana xx |

| Yes, some of Yoda's teeth fell out by themselves and we kept em! :P But some others had to be pulled by the vet. |

| Toto also had her's removed when she was spayed. Dr. Lucy doesn't want to put her under anesthesia any more than absolutely necessary. She was almost 8 months and beginning to look like a little vampire!! She lost a couple and we saved them for her "baby book"! We discovered a few weeks ago that she missed one ... just had it removed last week!

| I guess i got lucky..Mojo's teeth all fell by itself right before he turned 1 yr. I was already getting worried, all but 1, the top left canine, fell before he was 9 months. As per my vet's opnion, there is no problem until they are 1 1/2yrs for the teeth to fall by itself, unless the gums are becoming irritated. |

| thanks guys i guess i won't worry too much about it as of yet. she is working real hard to loosen them. i just had to add this......... one day she was chewing on a greenie and she must have gotten a piece stuck in her tooth or around it or something any how she was rubbing her face all over the place trying to loosen it. she kept comming to me and trying to nudge my fingers in her mouth to get it loose for her. LOL I was just about ready to get the dental floss out for her. LOL

| Hi Idenise, It verrryyy good to use tose little rope toys that have a knot at the end and all tose strings hanging...it is a floss thingie, i donnou the right name for it..Mojo's breeder recomended and it worked wonders, you can also play with your yorkie, which will help to loosen the baby teeth. |

| Maddie had to get 2 or 3 pulled when she was spay. Rudy lost his on his own. Maddie and him were always playing so I think that helped Rudy's fall out. I had Doc make sure when he was neutered a few week ago.................Cindy |

| So that's why Lexis suddenly started rubbing her head all over the place! Last week she looked she was having a fit because she kept licking her face like never before. The next day I saw her chwing on something and when I opened her mouth to look I noticed a little space with a small spot of blood in it. Needless to say, she ate that tooth. She looked so cute without that front tooth. |

| The stringy rope toys also help clean their teeth ... like flossing! I also found that if you provide them lots of chew toys it keeps them from chewing on other things [that they aren't supposed to chew on! ] Toto gets very frustrated if she doesn't have something to chew!

| well now good news. I got home from work tonight and Ahia has lost the loose one. It was cute as she was greeting me she was trying to get my hand in her mouth as to say "look what happened today!" She was trying to rub my finger over the spot. Probably just trying to bite me but in my immagination she wasn't. LOL Maybe the rest will loosen too. Thanks guys.
