| Heartworm Meds I understand that everyone gives their dog flea and tick meds? But what about Heartworms? When i went to the vet for the first time and asked what she should be on he said flea and ticks meds but nothing else? was that becasue she was young? She is 8.5 months, is this still too young? Or do you guys always give it? If so, what do you use? I have been reading a lot about them on sites liek PetEdge and other retailers that say its necessary, but at this point, this is the only site i trust for advice!! Thanks Marina |

| I keep my pets on flea, tick and heartworm medicine year round. I use revolution. I use to use Frontline and Heartguard. But it is less expensive to use the revolution because it covers all of these in one dose. And I get the dogs tested with their annual checkups.

| We use Heartworm meds here. I talked to our vet this week and she said that there are no mosquitos right now even with the mild winter but she's seeing hookworm and roundworm in some dogs now. The Heartgard Plus covers them also. We're in Southern Michigan. You might want to call your vet and ask what they think would be best.

| mine dont take anything for flea and ticks in the winter, but they've never had any so far even in summer. which they were taking something for them then. But once a month I give them both interceptor year round. Also my vet puts them on heartworm medicine at least by 6 months old.

| I have a natural vet. I use a natural heartworm protocol and get my dog tested twice a year. I also use neem powder and other natural flea and tick repellants. I live up in a colder climate so I'm sure that if I lived in an area like florida or something I'd have to use a bit of the non-natural but I try to go natural. suzie |

| We keep all 4 of ours on Heartguard Plus and Frontline Plus year round. I would switch to Revolution but I am not finding anything on their site about it keeping ticks off them. I never saw a tick on any of mine until I tried Sentinel on one of my Yorkie pups. Ben came in with a tick twice in a week! No more of that -- we added the Frontline Plus and have seen no sign of ticks since.

| We have used K9 Advantix on Mojo for awhile because it is for fleas, ticks AND misquitoes. I just bought some Frontline Plus to see if I like it better. We have never had a problem w/ fleas, but we have lots of ticks in the warmer weather. I check Mojo every time he comes in from outside. I can feel most ticks just by rubbing/massaging his skin through his hair. BUT I have also taking the time to comb and seperate his hair to look too - I HATE TICKS!! YUCK! We use Interceptor for heartworms - well, it actually takes care of all worms from what my vet says. It is a once a month pill.

| Oh no, an infestation! That was, hands down, the bestest typo I've ever ever seen! Sorry Jenn
