| Bad Teeth We just took Kal-el, our toy yorkie (2.5 lbs), to the vet and the vet said that our yorkie has really bad tooth decay. We would like to have his teeth cleaned professionally but he has health issues (deaf, hypoglycemic, neurologic problems) and we are scared to have him put under anesthesia for the procedure. The vet stated that we really need to do something or he will have to have teeth pulled in the future. Kal-el was abandoned and his previous owners didn't take care of him the way they should have. Kal-el wont let us brush his teeth without a fight but we really need to start doing it. Does any one have any suggestions? I have found some products on the internet that claim to reduce plague/tartar on dogs teeth (PetzLife Products Oral Care, Dental Care Tooth Gel, Triple Pet Plaque Off), has anyone tried any of these? Do they work? Thank you, |

| I just bought the petzlife and have not used it long enough to recommend it......but there are lots of people who have on here that do. I am noticing that the poodle has less stinky breath. I am currently using the gel on her.

| There is a lady in my area that cleans their teeth without anesthesia. I don't know how far Woodland is from Elk Grove (where I am), but I notice she also works in other areas as her number is a 530 area code. I have not had my dogs to her but plan to in the future. I have her card if you want the info. To get him used to brushing his teeth, put the toothpaste on your finger and rub it around his gums and teeth regularly. He will get used to you messing with his mouth that way. Get a good tasting toothpaste to begin with. Last edited by chloeandj; 01-11-2007 at 07:41 AM. |

| Thank you so much for getting back to me. I would love the information for the person in Elk Grove who does the teeth cleaning without anesthesia. Woodland is only 45 minutes from Elk Grove so that would be great. And I will try that trick for getting Kal-el used to getting his teeth cleaned. Thank you again. I really really appreciate it. |
