| Behavior after shots My 11 weekold yorkie just received shots today, she was such a good girl she never realized she received the shot because the vet had her eating on a treat. Later on this afternoon she has been sleeping alot and when I picked her up she let out a yelp when I touched her in the same area that she received her shot is this normal? Maybe I am overreacting my husband keeps telling me that she will be a good as new tomorrow.Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

| shot She's probably a little sore in the site of the injection. Just let her have some alone time and rest. My dogs did the same thing and were fine in a day or two.

| Mine did the same thing. She laid around all day too, and never even wanted to go outside. When I took her outside, she stayed in one spot. Next day, she was fine, running, jumping and back to her old self. |

My furkids Donating Member | Lillie would be a little sensitive in the shot area and she would also get a little lump but, not right away...I would notice a lump like a week or 2 later.

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | Yeah Peeka was the same way to you can take her back in and they can give her medicine(can't remember the name) it will help also before you get the shots they can give her something to help her thats what my vet started doing and we didn't have a problem after that.

| My puppy threw up afterward and we had to take her back in for a benedryl injection and a hydration shot. After that she thrashed around and tried to itch herself and whimpered. I felt so sorry for her and was starting to panic. My husband thought her back where the hydration shot was (they shot so much water in between her shoulder blades that she had a hump) must be bothering her, so I picked her up and very, very gently and lightly scratched the area for her, sort of more stroking than scratching. She stopped thrashing around and finally relaxed in my arms. I never stopped even to go to the bathroom, (somehow I managed to keep stroking while I was undoing my pants and going) until eventually she fell asleep. Then the entire next day she laid around and wasn't herself. She had no appetite and we had to feed her baby food for days. The vet said they would give her benedryl before her shot next time so she wouldn't react that way. I'm dreading going in for her next vaccination. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali did that after her first shot with me. She slept and then yelped when picked up. The vet started giving her pain meds orally for the rest of her shots. The vet said the shots they give in the back end are more sore than the ones in the neck. Cali was fine the next day. Hope she feels better soon/

princess is doing so much better today, I noticed that she is still a little sore from the shot ( she has not learned how to come down the stairs yet, so we have to pick her up and she cried out when I picked her up) But at the end of the day she was back to her usual feisty self. running around and jumping to get our attention.
