| nails got a question.... i thought the nails on buckeye were supposed to be black. i have noticed today that is nails are turning pink. is there something i should know ? does this mean there could be a problem? anyone know anything about this? he will be 5 yrs old in august. i have never had to cut them as they stay short due to his walking on pavement so much.

| no no problems at all. i was just giving him a daily rub down and watching tv like always and looked down and saw some of his nails are turning color. i am going to call the vet monday morning and ask him. unless someone on here has been thru this before and i find out it is nothing to worry about. i am sure this vet thinks i am an over protective mommy .

| Did they used to be black and are now turning pink? Hmmm, don't know. On my dalmations, they have black and white nails. The white nails are really translucent and you can see pink (the quick).

| I remember I read something about black nails, but I think that might have been when they were a puppy to determine purity of the breed. Sorry, I'm no help! I read so much information on here, I don't know where to hold it all!! |

| Oscar's are black. You really have an interesting situation. I'm glad they're not causing him any discomfort. You're not an overprotective mommy--you're a good mommy to notice a change in him. Keep us posted! |

| Amber has white nails on her two back paws. The vet did not seem to worry about it. She has not had any problems at all. |

| Mya's nails are all black. I kinda wish they were white because it is so easy to see the quick and not cut too much nail off. Our dog Comic has one nail with an unusal long quick. We keep mentioning it but since the nail is black he usually ends up with one bleeding nail after being groomed or having his nails cut by our vet. |
